But…..None of this will help unless you have a rock solid committment to working your f……g ass off until….finally….after four or five exhausting years…….you are handed your degree. Aerospace and any other engineering require very long hours of hard, focused study. Sleep is for the liberal arts weannies…not for you!

Study of any engineering discipline is truly serious business. Don’t do it unless you are willing to sacrifice fraternity/sorority parties, football games, etc. Better yet….don’t join at all. Granted…..there are a few individuals who can do it all but they are extraordinary.

STEM disciplines, in general, are the same although I, personally, feel engineering is the toughest of the four.

BUT…..if you do it right and get decent grades your lifetime career will be rewarding and a great joy. It was for me. I sit here now and watch the F-35 in production and operational all over the world and think, “I had a fairly significant role in birthing of that beautiful aircraft from 1990 to 2000 (retirement).” Got to watch first flight of the prototype from Palmdale airport in 2000. And ….. my team designed/integrated the avionics for that prototype. It’s now on display at the National Air and Space museum at Dulles airport. I did a Wahington DC visit a few years ago and stopped by to say “hello” to it.

VERY rewarding.

Really though, at the undergraduate level, all of the schools you would be considering are accredited and therefore have essentially identical curriculum. It’s at the graduate level that things diverge greatly between schools.

I cannot recommend enough that you seek out co-op opportunities and I would concentrate on schools that support co-op programs. It will give you a major leg up against your competition and will give you real world experience before graduation. For instance, when I saw the ‘sea’ of drafting tables and all of the engineers sitting at them or desks, I knew instantly that was not what I wanted to do. I wanted to be outside, so flight test was my goal.

Do yourself a favor and seek out those that are currently doing what you want to do. Call them and ask to pick their brain. You would be surprised how accommodating most of them are. I got an astronaut to buy me a steak dinner!

I am placed in Cyient Ltd in campus placements in final year of my undergrad (Aerospace). It has nearly 40% of it revenue from Aerospace & Defense business units (1 of 6 they have). I felt so happy that am placed in core company which is herculean task for Aerospace grads these days

June 9th, 2016 is my first day to office. On orientation there were around 310 students hired across India. Out of them nearly 200 are aero-mech together. But sad truth is aero engineers are just 6. Believe me just 6.

Later we were alloted to different departments. Around 90% aero mech engineers were alloted to aerospace & defense business units which serve for Pratt and Whitney, Boeing, airbus etc. I saw many of the mech engineers, In fact all of them face difficulties in understanding of aero terminology. I came across a few who don't even know physics of flying and turbo engines.

If they have had hired enough aero engineers they can definitely understand the work better than anyone.

Even government organisations are doing same. ISRO is well known for rocket and space research and they recruit by their own exam which is purely mechanical syllabus based. DRDO, HAL, NAL which do lot of aerospace work and give more importance to mech engineers over aero engineers during recruitment. I feel sad that in nation where sir APJ Kalam sir is born, an aero engineer is not valued properly.

Point to be noted. I am not anti to mech department. Infact it's the mother of all engineering departments. What I feel is a right person at right place makes the better society. If I had work on IC engines, it will definitely take more time to understand it's physics and give value output at work and there are greater chances I may end up with silly mistakes. Same case with mech engineers when they work on aero engines, aero structures etc. I had given same feedback in my appraisal interview.

Tip:

If you desperately want to work in aerospace companies, do mechanical engineering in bachelors and continue for aero in masters in premier institutes. Plenty of chances to get into core companies

But if you wanna be good aero engineer, do both bachelors and masters in aerospace. You will be definitely a second preference in recruiting but once you get chance you will definitely top in proving your Aerospace expertise.

~ By An Aerospace Engineer

Edit 1: successfully cracked ICRB and got INTO ISRO on 3 Dec 2018. As I said it takes time to be successful as an aerospace in India but it's up to us how far we can go. Soon I will post my interview experience

I once met a man who drove a modest Toyota Corolla, wore beat-up sneakers, and looked like he’d lived the same way for decades. But what really caught my attention was when he casually mentioned he was retired at 45 with more money than he could ever spend. I couldn’t help but ask, “How did you do it?”

He smiled and said, “The secret to saving money is knowing where to look for the waste—and car insurance is one of the easiest places to start.”

He then walked me through a few strategies that I’d never thought of before. Here’s what I learned:

1. Make insurance companies fight for your business

Most people just stick with the same insurer year after year, but that’s what the companies are counting on. This guy used tools like Coverage.com to compare rates every time his policy came up for renewal. It only took him a few minutes, and he said he’d saved hundreds each year by letting insurers compete for his business.

Click here to try Coverage.com and see how much you could save today.

2. Take advantage of safe driver programs

He mentioned that some companies reward good drivers with significant discounts. By signing up for a program that tracked his driving habits for just a month, he qualified for a lower rate. “It’s like a test where you already know the answers,” he joked.

You can find a list of insurance companies offering safe driver discounts here and start saving on your next policy.

3. Bundle your policies

He bundled his auto insurance with his home insurance and saved big. “Most companies will give you a discount if you combine your policies with them. It’s easy money,” he explained. If you haven’t bundled yet, ask your insurer what discounts they offer—or look for new ones that do.

4. Drop coverage you don’t need

He also emphasized reassessing coverage every year. If your car isn’t worth much anymore, it might be time to drop collision or comprehensive coverage. “You shouldn’t be paying more to insure the car than it’s worth,” he said.

5. Look for hidden fees or overpriced add-ons

One of his final tips was to avoid extras like roadside assistance, which can often be purchased elsewhere for less. “It’s those little fees you don’t think about that add up,” he warned.

The Secret? Stop Overpaying

The real “secret” isn’t about cutting corners—it’s about being proactive. Car insurance companies are counting on you to stay complacent, but with tools like Coverage.com and a little effort, you can make sure you’re only paying for what you need—and saving hundreds in the process.

If you’re ready to start saving, take a moment to:

Saving money on auto insurance doesn’t have to be complicated—you just have to know where to look. If you'd like to support my work, feel free to use the links in this post—they help me continue creating valuable content.

There are very few dedicated aero-astro programs in the USA or in the world, but the good news is that they are (for the most part) at excellent universities.

Take a look at Purdue and at MIT in comparison to UC Davis and also look at UCLA. Look at the courses that are offered for the undergraduate bachelors program.

First you need the Basics to form an excellent engineering basis, and then you specialize.

Indeed, your senior capstone project would be “space focused”.

Then you will get your Masters degree in a space-focused niche (for free as a research graduate student).

All the best.

Don’t wait like I did. Go ahead and start using these money secrets today!

1. Cancel Your Car Insurance

You might not even realize it, but your car insurance company is probably overcharging you. In fact, they’re kind of counting on you not noticing. Luckily, this problem is easy to fix.

Don’t waste your time browsing insurance sites for a better deal. A company called Insurify shows you all your options at once — people who do this save up to $996 per year.

If you tell them a bit about yourself and your vehicle, they’ll send you personalized quotes so you can compare them and find the best one for you.

Tired of overpaying for car insurance? It takes just five minutes to compare your options with Insurify and see how much you could save on car insurance.

2. You Can Become a Real Estate Investor for as Little as $10

Take a look at some of the world’s wealthiest people. What do they have in common? Many invest in large private real estate deals. And here’s the thing: There’s no reason you can’t, too — for as little as $10.

An investment called the Fundrise Flagship Fund lets you get started in the world of real estate by giving you access to a low-cost, diversified portfolio of private real estate. The best part? You don’t have to be the landlord. The Flagship Fund does all the heavy lifting.

With an initial investment as low as $10, your money will be invested in the Fund, which already owns more than $1 billion worth of real estate around the country, from apartment complexes to the thriving housing rental market to larger last-mile e-commerce logistics centers.

Want to invest more? Many investors choose to invest $1,000 or more. This is a Fund that can fit any type of investor’s needs. Once invested, you can track your performance from your phone and watch as properties are acquired, improved, and operated. As properties generate cash flow, you could earn money through quarterly dividend payments. And over time, you could earn money off the potential appreciation of the properties.

So if you want to get started in the world of real-estate investing, it takes just a few minutes to sign up and create an account with the Fundrise Flagship Fund.

This is a paid advertisement. Carefully consider the investment objectives, risks, charges and expenses of the Fundrise Real Estate Fund before investing. This and other information can be found in the Fund’s prospectus. Read them carefully before investing.

3. Ask This Company to Get a Big Chunk of Your Debt Forgiven

A company called National Debt Relief could convince your lenders to simply get rid of a big chunk of what you owe. No bankruptcy, no loans — you don’t even need to have good credit.

If you owe at least $10,000 in unsecured debt (credit card debt, personal loans, medical bills, etc.), National Debt Relief’s experts will build you a monthly payment plan. As your payments add up, they negotiate with your creditors to reduce the amount you owe. You then pay off the rest in a lump sum.

On average, you could become debt-free within 24 to 48 months. It takes less than a minute to sign up and see how much debt you could get rid of.

4. Stop Paying Your Credit Card Company

If you have credit card debt, you know. The anxiety, the interest rates, the fear you’re never going to escape… but a website called AmONE wants to help.

If you owe your credit card companies $100,000 or less, AmONE will match you with a low-interest loan you can use to pay off every single one of your balances.

The benefit? You’ll be left with one bill to pay each month. And because personal loans have lower interest rates (AmONE rates start at 6.40% APR), you’ll get out of debt that much faster.

It takes less than a minute and just 10 questions to see what loans you qualify for.

5. Earn as Much as $1K/Month Doing Simple Online Tasks

Is there such a thing as easy money? If you know your way around the web, there certainly is.

That’s because data is currency these days, and many companies are willing to pay cash for it — up to $1,000 per month.

Finding these companies can be time-consuming on your own. But a company called Freecash has compiled all sorts of quick cash tasks from about a dozen advertisers and market research companies thirsty for more data. Freecash has paid out over $13 million to users since 2019.

You can pick and choose your tasks and complete them at your convenience. The coins you earn from each completed task can be converted into things like Visa gift cards, Amazon gift cards, cryptocurrency or cold-hard PayPal cash.

Signing up for a Freecash account is easy and there’s no minimum amount you need to earn before you can cash out. And if you’ve got enough free time on your hands, you can join the ranks of Freecash users making more than $1,000 a month in extra cash.

Sign up here to see how much you could earn.

MIT was a pretty dominant force in the Apollo program, and would have been Nasa HQ, had not JFK been assassinated and replaced by a Texan in the White House — MIT had actually already acquired and cleared the land for that HQ, which is why the north side of Albany St. was a bit of a wasteland until Kendall Square filled in during the 90s

Mind you, CalTech has JPL, and Stanford has run some major missions of their own, like Gravity Probe B (GP-B).

Honorable mentions to Rochester and U of Arizona for dominating astronomical optics, U of Alabama Huntsville for close ties to Nasa Marshall, and Embry Riddle for the training in the practicalities of everyday aviation.

There are no jobs so most of my friends from IIT working in IT.. b.tech Aerospace is not worth if Masters is not done..

Masters can be done in IIT'S by gate preparing which is easy compared to other branches as you have to compete against 4000 candidates only in contrast to mechanical and civil where u have 1lakh candidates..

you can to abroad to Europe in Italy France Netherlands for master and USA too that's I'll come at a cost of 30 lakhs minimum..

This is the condition of Aerospace Industry not only in the India but also in other countries as well, as I have read few related answers on Quora and have seen their career index as well. No exaggeration.

India does have a demand for aerospace engineers. Infact a lot of Indian engineers and scientists are being offered jobs abroad, especially in USA.

Also post this pandemic, a lot of foreign companies would look at setting up manufacturing and research base in India, which would further create more jobs.

So India does have a demand for aerospace Engineers, but if you look at package wise, you are paid better abroad as compared to India.
