A few thoughts….
- My wife and I had two boys.
- We spaced them 3 years apart.
- The spacing gave my wife a chance to fully recover from child birth, stabilize her career etc.
- It gave each child time to feel like they were an only child.
- As they grew older, the we gradually gave the older son, more responsibility for his younger brother which worked out well. They were close enough when they were young to play together. As they older, the the eldest became a role model for the younger. Eventually, the older could watch the younger one.
- The gap also allowed us to hand down nice item likes bikes etc, without them being out of date etc.
