I don't think that grandparents are necessarily obligated to spend time with their grandchildren, but as a proud grandmother of nine beautiful grandchildren, I cannot imagine a grandparent who wouldn't want to spend time with their grandchildren.

Sure, sometimes it gets hectic and chaotic, and sometimes I am really glad when they go home, to be perfectly honest. But I would not trade my time with them for anything.

I find I have way more patience with the grandkids than I did with their parents. My husband and I both worked when our children were growing up, and we had total responsibility for them. Often, by the time we got homework, dinner and baths done and got them in bed, it would be 9 or 9:30 pm by the time I even sat down for 5 minutes to catch my breath. Then came housework and laundry.
