This was 11 years ago. I contracted to the State and after 8 yrs. in one building, change forced a location and boss change for me in a management position. Through casual conversation she found out we went to high school together (just our class 1972 - was 650 students in a 4 yr high school) in a district 100% comprised of one city, but also had a little slice out of an adjoining city - I had lived in the city, and she had lived in ‘slice’ - and said her high school years were terrible as she felt she was ostracized because of the city she lived in. Now, we didn’t know each other, but from that point on (about a month after I started there) - it was downhill. My wonderful office, had a computer but never had internet in the 6 months I was there… I got to where I was admonished for asking - “it’s low priority - stop asking”.. I had to bounce from office to office daily in search of an available computer with tons of client files. I decided to retire, and as I was leaving the workforce forever, my exit interview was with 2 upper management and I didn’t mince words. I was an Employment Specialist… there was something to be learned from (that) experience.. I hope they took it to heart. I learned the ex boss died 3 years ago.
