First of all you gotta make sure of several things that in my opinion can make a horrible night.

  1. Find out if your partner likes camping. I have seen people at their best and at their worst in campsites. My last outdoor adventure we had a couple in our group that got up at first light and one of them said that she was leaving in 5 minutes and the people that came with them in their car better be ready because she didn’t want to be there anymore.
  2. Take all the necessary equipment. Their is no thing worse than being cold and wet, it kinda takes away the romantic.
  3. Find a nice and SECURE campsite. Depending on where you are going and which country you live in you have to be aware of the place were you are planning to stay. Be it wild animals or dangerous people you gotta know what you are getting yourself into.

Taking those things into account you can do several things with your partner. What we like to do is take long walks, we don’t really say much, we just enjoy our surroundings and the peace that’s so irregular in our normal lifestyles.

We also enjoy having a nice meal around a fire. Camping dons’t have to be eating pre-made food, get a small camping stove and try to make something special.

If you manage to stay in some place nice, just sit and relax with your partner. Each one take a book and enjoy the scenery. Most of us live in sees of concrete so try to absorb the outdoors, don’t rush it.

We normally take our dog and have lots of fun with her, she is a young very energetic border collie and are great companions for camping. They absolutely love the forest, so we enjoy taking her with us on our walks or playing fetch/Frisbee at the campsite.

Depending of the campsite, they might also have activities that you would enjoy and be romantic. I have been to places where they have horses and you can get a nice ride around the site for a fee. Or others that have thermal waters, and what isn’t romantic then getting in a natural jacuzzi with your significant other.

My best advice would be to scout the areas you can go and make a list. Don’t try to do everything. Camping is about relaxing and enjoying the outdoors.

I wish you my best!
