Yes they can. I watched a horror movie when I was 6 years old and for a year after that, I had nightmares so my mum forbade me from watching them again. I began watching them again after I got much older and now I’m sort of a horror movie fanatic. It’s not a good thing either as I’m running out of (good) horror movies to watch.
