Jesus Christ - Because He alone would be qualified to lead a nation with equal Justice and in Truth.

But that will not happen. I don’t know why so many progressives have this irrational fear of a religious takeover. I assume they have read or watched too many episodes of Margaret Atwood’s The Handmaid’s Tale. That dreadful story gets far more coverage than it deserves.

The very Liberty we have enjoyed in the United States exists because our Founding Fathers, many among them Christians, knew quite well the bloody experiences of Europe, where every Kingdom had a state religion. By compulsion, people were forced to take part. This led to great wars, and a lot of individual suffering. When religions weren’t fighting each other, they were busy witch hunting, or heresy hunting for fun and profit. Religious folks became quite sophisticated in human torture, obtaining impressive results gaining the confessions needed to end the life of those cursed heretics - legally of course.

There were a few brief flickers of God’s Light from time to time, but they were often quickly snuffed out. Don’t want the Truth to reach the masses. That might lead them to rise up and end the madness.

Eventually, folks in France did rise up. They had enough king, aristocracy, and religion. In their zeal to end tyranny they, forgot one important asset - God. They cleansed the land of tyrants both secular and religious, but left no room for Jesus. Contrast their Revolution with the one in the US, which was very much grounded on RELIGIOUS FREEDOM, not the absence of it.

By establishing the Absolute Truth that all rights come from God, they immediately made it very difficult for any would-be tyrant to oppress citizens of the United States. You don’t have to even believe there is a Creator, simply acknowledge that these rights - free speech, right to assemble, right to bear arms, freedom of the press and so on - come from a higher authority than man. And there is nothing man can do to undermine them.

In no way does that exclude Christians, or any other religious group from serving in government. Although I would prefer people who are in the Body of Christ and are led by the Spirit. Religious folk, including atheists, generally have nothing to govern their behavior. Their choices often come down to what’s best for me, or even worse, the end justifies the means - meaning anything, no matter how diabolical, is permitted to advance their agenda.

Atheism - which is a belief system, is far more scary as a theocracy. History proves this.

Atheist Murderers – most dangerous people in history?

People who BELIEVE in climate change are another frightening bunch. They would DESTROY the economies of all modern nations in the hope of stopping a slight change in temperature. You could tax the world into poverty and not change the amount of energy released by the Sun. And in no way is CO2 a pollutant, when the plant life on this planet needs it survive, and thrives when there is more of it in the atmosphere. FOLLOW THE SCIENCE!

Then there are folks who see no problem liquidating babies by the thousands, especially targeting minorities in their communities. If that weren’t bad enough, now they want to take children and treat them as science experiments, reimaging their gender via surgery and chemicals. That truly is dystopian craziness. Let the children live and be free!

Is there something worse than a Christian theocracy - oh yes there is. Anything without Christ at the top. When its time for Jesus, there will be no debate. He will take His place whether you believe in Him or not. It might be better to introduce yourself in this age of Grace.
