I was in grade 4, and we had a subject “Science”. Now, I have never been a child of academics but I loved reading a lot, and hence my mother got me introduced to the series of encyclopaedias called “Time Life”

In one of the series of those encyclopaedias was called “Brief History of Time”, which generally talked about earth's evolution since its existence, I read about Dodo, an extinct bird.

  1. (That's an ugly looking birdie, don't you think?)

On the day of my final science exam, we were presented with a question to name some extinct animals. I wanted to be different from other kids mentioning Dinosaur as the obvious choice, so I went ahead writing down “Dodo”.

When the results came in, I was negative marked for the question by the teacher, who thought I was making up an extinct animal because I was stupid.

At that time, those encyclopaedias were expensive books, and my mother wouldn’t have allowed to take the book to the teacher to prove myself. Hence, later that night, I sneaked into our reading room and hid that book in my school bag.

The next day, I show the extinct animal in that book to my 4th grade teacher, and let’s just say the additional upgrade in mark wasn’t as priceless as the look on my teacher’s face of a 4th grader proving her wrong.
