- Noise cancelling headphones. I never fly without them! Mine can drown out a screaming baby in the seat behind me.
- Sleeping pills. I asked my doctor to prescribe me some sleeping pills for a trip to Australia (16 hours from Vancouver to Sydney) and it was the best thing I ever did! I slept a full 8 hours and arrived quite rested.
- Always bring your own snacks. I never trust the airlines to feed me.
- I like to wear a short sleeve shirt with a hood or an infinity scarf, which I put over my head and cover my eyes to sleep.
- Wear layers. Sometimes planes are really warm and sometimes that AC is blowing on you the entire flight.
- When you recline your seat, do it slowly. For shorter flights I don’t recline if the person behind me is tall, but on long haul flights that’s not reasonable - tall people need to upgrade to a seat with more legroom if they don’t fit.
- Remember the seat back in front of you is someone’s seat! Do not grab it and pull it backwards to stand up and be very aware of how hard you’re pressing the touchscreen.
- Most important tip is to try and relax. Travel is stressful, things go wrong, airlines often have delays. Try to go with the flow as much as possible.

Something went wrong. Wait a moment and try again.
