If I were to get a 100 dollars for every time I heard people say that if Eru didn't intervene Numenor would've conquered Aman and defeated the Valar I would be a millionaire right now and my reaction is like… have y'all forgotten how powerful the Valar really are. The one who raised the island of Numenor wasn't even a Vala it was Ossë who is just a Maia and he already had the power to raise an entire island and Ossë is a small fry compared to Ulmo who is one of the most powerful of the Aratar who are the mightiest beings in all of Eä. Ulmo has complete control over the waters of Arda and has the potential to raise entire continents that would make the island of Numenor look like a joke. Ulmo could simply cause a tsunami that would sink all of the Armada, Manwë could just summon a huge lighting storm that could incinerate parts of a continent or he could just command the wind to blown the armada away. Aulë could just move the earth beneath their feet and cause the army to fall into a deep black abyss and his wife Yavanna could throw all of nature around them to crush them. There is soooo many ways that the Valar could shit stomp Numenor but the only reason they didn't is because the Valar aren't allowed to harm Eru's children so they had to call on him for help. Numenor never had or ever could have a slight chance againt the powers of the world
