Actually, I don’t think so.
As much as they are ridiculed for quality, they never made bad products. They only made dated product design and had lower quality control. Their biggest problem is, the cheaper segment that they focus on, is full of people with zero sense of computers (and probably even in general) who just blame the brand for everything and put comparisons of their 30K INR (400$) Laptop against 2000$ MacBooks and XPSs and mock the brand.
And the problem of dated product designs is still there, especially in the gaming segment but the Ultrabooks have really great, modern and sexy designs.
About the lower quality control, that is a part of how they hit low price points, I think. Their products are great, no doubt. But one must make a full, extensive check of their Acer Laptop in the first 1 days of purchase, if everything is perfect, then it will last you 5, maybe even 10 years, but if you don’t check, it might die even before a month.
Tbh checking is compulsory for any laptop you buy, you should never skip that, but as an Acer owner, I know how wonderful (and literally far better than many significantly more expensive laptops) these are if you make sure they are working well
