It is completely normal for gaming laptops to get hot. This is especially true when under a heavy load such as playing triple A titles. The components of any gaming PC generate a lot of heat which in a desktop with plenty of airflow you don’t tend to experience the same issues with heat dissipation, as a laptop which tends to be a much tighter packed package. I personally have a 2019 Alienware M17 with i7–9850H and an RTX2060, I play a lot of intensive title capitalizing all the performance my machine can offer it is often too hot to even touch. Even sitting atop a turbo fan cooling pad. I also use my laptop for mining crypto currencies, this is another really intensive task, with adjusting my settings I can maintain about 79 degrees C with the cool pad while mining. Gets hotter while gaming than it does while mining by about 8–12 degrees C.
I hope this has provided some critical insights.
