Haplogroup isn’t always tied with physical appearance. For instance, a white man of haplogroup R (Typical of Europe.) marries a black woman of haplogroup L (Typical of Africa.) and they have a son. Since male haplogroups can only be inherited from male to male (Father to son.), the son also belongs to haplogroup R like his father. However, because he has a black ancestry from the mother, his skin tone is on the darker side though not as dark as the mother. So while his haplogroup is R, typical of Europe, his skin tone is not. Imagine the son, let’s call him Carl, marries a black woman and have a son named Jack. Jack also belong to haplogroup R but he looks like a Sub Saharan African. His skin tone is as dark as any Sub Saharans despite belonging to haplogroup R. This example shows that haplogroup isn’t always tied with physical appearance.
