Hello again! Welcome to my second post, and sorry for the delay again, I am not doing this on purpose. This time I’m going to implement some power-scaling to measure Optimus’ power and strength, and analyse the cosmology he is in, to contribute to his tier.

Here are the previous posts:

My music:

And my post of the day. Enjoy!

The TF IDW Universe Structure:

Not only the Transformers Multiverse contains Infinite Universes and Possibilities (even stated in the IDW-verse as well), each Universe is infinite in size:

There are opposite weights on a scale — and hanging in the balance is the Infinite Universe and all the vast riot of Creation.

There are other statements like this, but the ones told by Vector Prime makes it legit, since he is both an observer and encyclopedia of the Multiverse (Via Ask Vector Prime, which is basically a site, or in this case, his Facebook page, for him (or Hasbro) to answer questions based on Transformers Lore or particular continuities).

Pretty straightforward. But the IDW Universe is associated with other realms; each one being unique and fluctuating.

The Microspace

On the border of a realm I created. Microspace

Created by Micronus Prime himself, one of the Thirteen Primes. Not a lot of features resides in this Universe, besides making its inhabitants comically small. But it is a Universe that resides within the main one, as confirmed here:

Apparently there’s a cosmic crisis in the larger world above. One so serious, it could even affect Microspace….

Microspace is a completely different Universe

The Higher Realms

The possession of the Omega Guardians — a civilisation from Ki-Aleta who used to police access to the Higher Realms.

Though there aren’t as much info about this dimension, according to the Magnificence; an All-Knowing Arifact that has the answers to any question, knows everything, and is a roadmap to everything in the Universe (supported by the fact that this artifact is actually Epistemus; a Cybertronian personifying Knowledge), the Higher Realms is described as a world that ascends beyond the ‘Base Dimensions’:

For the Omega Guardian. Of the ascended races. They alone want to protect the Base DimensionsOnce you enter the Higher Realms, it’s virtually impossible to return.

Moreover, it’s inhabitants are known as The Omega Guardians:

There is a fault, between your world and ours… The last time one of use tried to cross over, the trauma killed them. What we call their corpse, you call The Warren.

Their corpses mentioned here, known as The Warrens, are invisible quantum tunnel that can span across Space and Time:

And The Dead Universe

There isn’t a good picture for this Universe, unfortunately

As I mentioned last post, the Dead Universe is a hyper-malevolent parallel reality that mirrors the normal Universe, as well as being Sentient and “Omni”-cognisant. Of course, that world contains its Personification and Ruler; the D-Void (well, used to, and this is what The D-Void looks like, btw):

The Heart of Darkness empowered me against you! You are what I was created to battle! I was made to warn the Universes of your approach.

^Pay attention to this quote

And because the Universe is Sentient, if you decide to go into it, it will sense you and kill you, as long it thinks you don’t belong there:

Not even Hardhead here, who has tanked Galvatron’s Dead Universe-amped Fusion Cannon and endured his harmful effects, can survive within that Universe:

What the Dead Universe is also capable of merging itself with the normal Universe, or how the characters put it, destroying the universe, as stated numerous times:

The Magnificence has proved highly enlightening: The spacebridge portals link three so-called Nega-Cores, the simultaneous detonation of which will accelerate the spread of the Benzuli expanse anomaly, crushing two universes into one.

…the Heart of Darkness can be used to turn [Vector Sigma] into a planet-sized portal between the Dead Universe and this Universe. A portal big enough for the D-Void to travel through and…fuse with everything. Kill everything.

The Fate of all Creation held in his hand, Megatron did not falter. He stopped the unstoppable. But one other, stood apart…

^We’ll get this this scan in a second

And not only that, Nova and Galvatron, who were heralds of the Dead Universe, plans on merging the Dead Universe with ALL other Universes, while making Space and Time bowing down to them:

It is time for Cybertron’s Golden Age to begin again, for all Universe to be one…. and to be mine!
Space and Time shall bow before us,
lord Nova Prime!

(Scroll to Shockwave’s scaling for better depth, as this is also part of Shockwave’s plan)

For evidence, before Nova and Galvatron’s planning and when The D-Void was still alive, Galvatron deemed The D-Void to be a threat to all Universes, as he believed he was made to warn the other Universes of its approach. In fact, The D-Void once resided on the far side of the Multiverse before:

The triumphant vista of the Universal Continuum opens before me! My sensors are all, but overwhelmed…. but I was right! The Dead Universe does lie on the other side of this gateway! I can detect it’s patient, silent void on the far side of all other Universes.

With Galvatron’s belief, it was actually The D-Void itself manipulating him (stated in the previous scans) through its conduit; The Heart of Darkness, which showed The D-Void’s true goals. And the previous statements that implies “all of creation” suggests likewise, as if The D-Void entered through Cybertron and kill the Universe, it would set its’ sights on other worlds.

So it should give you an idea of how powerful Optimus is when it comes to tanking The D-Void’s Darkness blast, resisting it, and going Saitama on Nova Prime, as well as how powerful the Matrix was when it erased the Entity.

Now that we got the scale out of the way, onto Optimus’ scaling.

Thunderwing and Ore-13/Ultra Energon

Thunderwing, in the distant past, couldn’t be stopped by the combined force of Optimus, Megatron, Omega Supreme, and even the titan Trypticon:

It took everything we had and more to stop it, to halt its flailing, apocalyptic advance. But even then it was not the creature that yielded…but Cybertron itself! As if bent on one last selfless act of sacrifice, to took our sin, and swallowed it whole.

Thunderwing was feared by most, if not, all Cybertronians, as his capability lead him to destroy planets; even threatening Cybertron itself, to the point it was uninhabitable at first:

Worlds will burn. And from the ashes of funeral pyres lit the length and breadth of the Galaxy…

When the entity is finished on Nebulos, when it has reduced the planet to a cinder and eradicated every living thing of it… we will send it onwards, to another planet… and another…

True, global devastation is pretty much why we’re here, but when all is said and done…. we still want some world left to strip down and ship out. This….thing practically destroyed Cybertron single-handed.

….You will take whatever steps necessary to curtail this… second coming. If entire worlds must burn, then so be it.

Including Cybertron?

Yes. Especially Cybertron

And not even The Autobots and The Decepticons with their combined might could put a dent in Thunderwing:

But Optimus out of all, was able to wound and blast holes into Thunderwing, via massive firepower:

By the time we looked up from our bitter entrenchments, it was too late. Cybertron was locked in its death throes. The damage has been done….you tapped technologies neither tried nor tested and so began a descent into madness… that almost wiped out our entire race!

As Thunderwing was described as many thing; a Force of Nature and a Harbinger of the Apocalypse, he was stated to being a threat to the Entire Universe:

This time there will be no retreat, no half-measures, I will end the threat you pose to the entire Universe…

Is it? Who knows what damage Thunderwing did wherever Bludgeon sent him? And then there’s this Ultra Energon… Where did that come from?

This is where I bring back Ore-13 again, to contribute to Thunderwing’s power. Thunderwing here was fuelled up with Ore-13, upon his second onslaught on the Cybertronians, whereas before he wasn’t, which comes to show Thunderwing’s destructive power by himself:

Bludgeon used something he dubbed Ultra Energon to re-empower Thunderwing. It’s what we detected from orbit.

And Ore-13 is said to being a cure to stop another Universal threat; something known as the Entropy Cloud, which threatened to destroy the Microspace. This cloud’s description implies to be a rift in space and time:

When I entered the Entropy Cloud… I understood little of its true nature. Within, though, I found that the laws of Space and Time were undown. Creatures I thought destroyed… even entire worlds thought lost… existed within the storm. They were however, out of sync in time. Some lived in the past… others the future. Still others thrived in a single moment. The past, present, and future played out simultaneously within the Entropy Cloud.

Time flows of it's own volition inside the Cloud. Thus, I have sufficient opportunity to solve the problem Microspace is facing… Micronus is the gateway to this other Universe, where lies a mineral which brings order to the Entropy Cloud…. slow its progress… destroys it. But time runs out for us…we must accelerate or perish. Thus, Microspace needs you — to save this Universe.

Further confirmation for Ore-13 being a cure stated here and there:

Your attempts at transferring Ore-13 to your Universe has blown holes in mine (Earth).

Ore-13 is our salvation!

His people are fractured, like we were. They’ll never survive this Entropy Cloud on their own. But Micronus says Ore-13 can help them!

Moreover, since Megatron used this same Energon to fight Optimus before (let alone killing Starscream who once used it too), it comes to show that Optimus’ physical strength is grandly high. Even against an amped-version of his equal, till he met defeat.

———

Megatron

Speaking of Megatron, and like I said before, both leaders have fought countless of occasions:

Megatron has three particular bodies that expands on his abilities, and seem to grow stronger within each one:

Body 1

The same body he used to battle Optimus over the years. Like I mentioned, Megatron has fought Thunderwing in the past. Maybe not the one fuelled with Ore-13, but still managed to battle him alongside his nemesis:

An unamped-version of Megatron was also strong enough to rip the Matrix of Leadership from Prime’s chest:

Body 2

(What he originally looked up)

Bare with me as I go off-topic. I swear I’ll link this back to Optimus.

Megatron’s Stealth Bomber Body, thanks to Shockwave, was made up of an alloy of, once again, Ore-13:

This old body of now carry — forged from an alloy of Shockwave’s Ore-13 and infused with the Space Bridge technology of the Titans themselves…

Confirmation that Shockwave helped recreated him

This body enabled him to go toe-to-toe with the D-void. Or more specifically, The Decepti-God:

This thing is made up of countless Decepticons and Sweeps.

As I said multiple times, the D-Void, more specifically the Decepti-God, was stated to be a threat to the Universe and to be the end of all Creation, even in the Historia Guidebook:

And Megatron went Rambo in this battle; tearing it apart, resisting its influence, and delivering a mighty blast that not only evaporated the Decepti-God, but also injured the D-Void itself:

Muster your parts — my own soldiers — for the the final sortie. I can feel you in my head, trying to master my will. To join with you. But I will not yield…

The D-Void. It’s just suffered a massive injury. I… felt it, Jhiaxus. But how?

Megatron did suffer major damage after the fight, but he stood on his feet fine and well. Also shows the rigidness of Ore-13 too:

Body 3

Although arguably his second body is the strongest out of the three, this one seems to rival that as well (Again, scroll down to the Shockwave scaling for more information).

———

Galvatron

Optimus can contend with someone like Galvatron, who has very high strength. His best example would be him ripping Megatron in half:

Galvatron has also fought the D-Void by himself. In their first encounter, as Galvatron was travelling through the Multiverse, Galvatron endured the illusion of being shredded down to his exoskeleton and battled the D-Void one-on-one. He managed to free himself from the Entity’s grasp:

The second encounter was when The D-Void possessed Nova Prime’s body. While Galvatron was losing, he was still able to put up a fight against it, despite it being only a fraction of The D-Void’s power:

Though he was empowered by The Darkness at that time, which he no longer has, he’s still incredibly strong by himself.

Galvatron has even killed Nexus Prime:

Again, forgive me for going off-topic.

Stepping outside of the IDW-verse, Nexus, as one of the Thirteen Primes, is not only a Multiversal Singularity (a being that exist as the same identity in all Universes), meaning that this Nexus is this Universe is the same as others (though arrogant), but also a fragment of Primus (stay tuned for the third post; I’ll be talking about him):

It is here, at the beginning of all time that I and my sibling units were first created and each given a spark — A fragment of the essence of Primus itself…

And like other Primes, he possess his own artifact, the Engima of Combination (the red diamond item in scan where Galvatron killed him), which besides being able to create Combiners, it was described to be The Heart of the Cosmic Force of Combination, and something that can manipulate the Primal Force of the Universe.

A pretty solid character, Galvatron is. And Optimus has fought him in battle on three different occasions (with the third one being a handicap); roughly matching him in strength, and damaging him:

Even taking his Fusion Cannon blast from him, which is something that can harm himself if malfunctioned:

———

Shockwave

Or how fans like to call him: Regenesis Shockwave. The term ‘Regenesis’ relates to his program that involves seeding Ores into different planets; each Ore being their own ‘superpowers’ that alters a fundamental property of existence. Here are some examples:

Shockwave did a couple of achievements to become this powerful, rather than almost destroying the Universe. He has absorbed the energy and lifeforce of The Dead Universe into him, via through Galvatron (who is linked to the Universe), while addressing that Universe as ‘merely fuel’ for his plan:

With Nova Prime’s control severed, we are ready to harness the primal forces of the Dead Universe. All its energy from the dawn of creation to the end of time — shall fuel our final victory. And you Galvatron… I believe you said something about a link?

The chronal drive reaches to the beginning of time — to the inception of the Dead Universe. We siphon away its energy — it’s life — before the universe ever lived. We cause that Universe to be — to always have been — dead. The Life force that might have been flows into the here and now — flows into Cybertron.

No, Jhaixus, the energy flows to me. Though we kill a Universe, it is merely fuel for a grander plan.

As I showed the capability and potential of the Dead Universe before, this should give you guys an idea of just how powerful Shockwave is in this form. And the process confirms it:

Galvatron’s fate is irrelevant — the preparations are over. The ammonites have arrived as the Dead Universe’s energy flow into the Time Drive.

This Universe shall bend to your every command, Shockwave...

Besides that, and thanks to his aforementioned Ores, he has gained control of particular concepts, such as:

  • Controlling Life and Death; with Ore-14, Ore-2 and Ore-7
  • All potential energy of everything; with Ore-6 and Ore-8
  • And all of Space and Time; with Ore-1 and, guess what, Ore-13 again:

Millions of years ago, I seeded our galaxy with Ores; each able to alter a fundamental property of existence. Individually powerful, but when combined… they are unstoppable.

Ore-14, Resurrection merged with Ore-2, Death, in the Dark Titan. The ammonites caused Metroplex to deliver Ore-7, Change, to the mix… and the nature of Life and Death are irrevocably altered. Jhiaxus combined Ore-6, Cold — capable of causing heat-death, of stopping at a subatomic level — with Ore-8, destruction granting us absolute mastery of the potential energy of any object. Ore-13, power itself, combines with Ore-1, time — And you Galvatron serve as a conduit to the Dead Universe…

Confirmation for all the things I just said now:

Nova Prime gained absolute power over the Dead Universe, but to what end? Now I hold his power, in this Universe….. No, Galvatron, I command Space-Time with a quite specific mandate…

And more confirmations on Shockwave controlling all of Space and Time.

The reason I say ‘Concepts’, is because Shockwave’s Ores could manipulate certain ones, like Life and Death for example (Ore-2 and Ore 14):

Life and Death are merely concepts… concepts that can be done away with. Information is all there is. Life, Death, Time, Place — merely information, data to be manipulated.

“Dead”? Make the most of such concepts — They won't exist for much longer… The Universe exists to save us — to fuel Cybertron in an endless forever.

For more about these Ores, read here

And his most prominent feat was almost collapsing everything into a single point; a black hole. Not just all of the Universe, but including all Concepts such as ‘change’, the past and future, physics, all of Space, all of Time, and all of History. Everything will collapse into him for his ‘goals’, causing the Universe and everything to never have existed:

I shall remove the very concept of ‘change’ — of ‘past’ and ‘future’ — from the physics of this Universe. All of space and of time shall exist as a single point, an ultimate Singularity; an ultimate black hole, here — on Cybertron. And this will consume all the resources of the Universe, in one never-ending moment — the only space and the only moment that has ever or will ever exist. Cybertron will feed on the Universe forever… and the very concept of ‘Forever’ and the ‘Universe’ shall exist only to feed Cybertron. All the Universe, all of history, shall collapse into me. A single point of light against the infinite darkness.

Many years later, it was further supported.

This messed up time so badly, almost ending it:

So what does this have to do with Optimus and Megatron? Well, these guys took a point-blank blast from the scientist and survived:

So now you destroy the Universe, Shockwave? You have gone mad.

I destroy nothing. I cause the Universe to have never been — save as fuel for a Cybertron eternal.

And for Optimus’ case, twice:

Taking into account of his other durability feats, such as the Spacebridge, the Necromantic Magic, and The Darkness, Optimus wouldn’t just tank attacks, he would eat a lot of them head on to close the distances between him and Thor.

Also comes to show that Optimus and Megatron are equally comparable to one another, for tanking the same attack and by the looks of it, coming out almost-fine:

Reason being Meg’s 3rd body > 2nd body, in terms of durability, is that since Megatron, in his second body, was gravely injured after fighting the D-Void, Megatron could walk off Shockwave’s blast in his new body as seen above, and as I scaled, Shockwave was much stronger, thus making his third body more durable and tougher.

Summary:

  • Optimus and the others I’ve mentioned here, are capable of fighting on a cosmic scale. Optimus would have no problem taking on someone like Thor.
  • In the main Universe, Optimus could not only contend with characters that can affect or destroy it, but also two other Universes, making it a total of 3 (or 4, if you include the Dead Universe, with an additional bonus of its capability being on a higher scale), and even strong enough to participate on a Multiversal level (details will be further expanded next post)
  • Thanks to the cosmology scaling, the scaling of Ore-13 and some of the characters here, his physical strength should make him comparable enough to handle Thor’s.
  • Like I said just now, Optimus would withstand and eat Thor’s immense attacks, when rounding up his previous durability feats from last post and the feat of taking Regenesis Shockwave’s blast to the face twice; turning this battle into a slugfest.

And that’s my second post down

In my next and final post, I’ll talk about Optimus’ arsenal of weapons, abilities, and as promise, the Matrix of Leadership; why these Cybertronian aspects could back up Optimus’ prowess against Thor’s Asgardian fortress, and why the Matrix of Leadership could enable him to reach victory, while generating abilities to aid his counter against Thor’s arsenal.

Thanks for reading

I was a soldier, a very long time ago. And I understood how to win battles. That was why I ascended. That’s why I became a leader. But a leader leads. I thought I knew what that meant. But I don’t think you could understand how long it took me to actually learn it.

Hundreds of your generations. Thousands. All that time I thought I was leading us further into war. And then suddenly, that war was over. But I still led soldiers as a soldier. Same tactics. Evading the enemy. The enemy being you. But we are not your enemies. And I realised I could not lead my troops under that premise any longer. Can you understand the battle fatigue created by fighting a war over millennia? Of having the same mindset, the same patterns of behaviour, tempered by the stresses of endless battle? It’s because of this I was no longer effective as a leader for the first time, we find ourselves confronted with a different situation. We are no longer fighting Decepticons. And I refuse to fight you…We need to change. And so I chose to abdicate. And to turn myself upon your mercy for what my leadership has brought to your world…

You humans have the ability to learn in less than a single lifetime what it has taken me uncountable generations to grasp…. So though you thought you could learn much from me, I hope you see now that I have so much more I should have learned from you. And it is with the greatest respect that I will remain as your prisoner, to do with as you see fit. Because the capacity for wisdom in the human race is something I will never doubt.
