AirPods are highly successful because they are truly great products. They solved where most of these problems have still not been solved on the Android market.
- Getting individual ear pieces to be in sync was a big deal. Before that, wireless earbuds required a cord that would sit behind your neck to link the two earbuds.
- Custom W1 and H1 chips provides a HUGE advantage over competing products. Gone is the traditional Bluetooth dance when trying to sync with multiple devices. Gone are the snaps and pops that accompany many Bluetooth devices for audio.
- AirPods have unmatched latency. Part of this is because Android is absolutely horrible when it comes to audio latency, but much of it is a combination of iOS handling this very well and Apple’s custom chips on the AirPods. Apple has reduced latency to under 150ms (144ms) to be exact. By comparison the BEST you can get on an Android device is closer to 300ms with many solutions near 600ms. This makes devices like this completely unsuitable for things like gaming, etc. on Android.
- With the AirPods Pro, both the sound quality and the noise cancellation are better than my Bose Quiet Comfort 35 headphones.
- The small carrying case that also charges the AirPods makes them so convenient that you can take them everywhere.
