For more than 40 years I donated 60% of my net salary to a human service agency that provides housing and job training including placement to the homeless population. I didn't do this for recognition. The only restriction I placed on my donation was that I would never be identified as the donor. I'm the Founder and CEO of a large company that grew from one entity to a family of 30 companies in various industries. Along the way I became wealthy. My contribution was not insignificant. This is not something I had to do. It somehow just seemed like the right thing to do.

It depends on how you define charity. I don’t know if this is true, but it would seem to me that wealthy Muslims would be the most generous of all the wealthy people in the world as giving generously to charity is part of their religion. It’s one of the pillars of their faith to donate a portion of their wealth to charity.

Have you sat down recently and calculated your net worth? It’s a great (and sometimes terrifying) exercise. Basically, you add up everything you own, subtract everything you owe, and the resultis your net worth: an overall picture of whether you’re coming out ahead at this particular point in time.
It seems straightforward, but it can actually be kind of confusing: What exactly do I include in my calculations? What if I run a business on the side (which I do)—or even as my full-time gig? Do I include all of that when figuring this out?

Have you sat down recently and calculated your net worth? It’s a great (and sometimes terrifying) exercise. Basically, you add up everything you own, subtract everything you owe, and the resultis your net worth: an overall picture of whether you’re coming out ahead at this particular point in time.
It seems straightforward, but it can actually be kind of confusing: What exactly do I include in my calculations? What if I run a business on the side (which I do)—or even as my full-time gig? Do I include all of that when figuring this out?
If you’re lucky enough to run a business, no matter how large or small, eventually you’ll want to know how it affects your own bottom line. Here’s how to figure that out.
Just a reminder: your net worth is not set in stone, and it’s not a reflection of your worth as a person. It’s just a snapshot of where you are right now. Just like your age, it ain’t nothing but a number … but unlike your age, you can always change it.
How to calculate personal net worth
Try to collect everything you can think of that relates to your money, so you have it all in one place. Record all of your assets and all of your debts and find the difference: that’s your net, or overall, worth.
Assets
When I talk about assets, I mean everything you own of value, or what you would get if you sold that particular thing. If you have a car and you can sell it for $7,000, that’s a $7,000 asset. You might have paid $20,000 for it, but what matters is the current value. Write down the asset as well as its current value.
Examples of assets:
- Cars, trucks, or boats.
- High-value personal property like wedding rings, watches, or art.
- Cash.
- Bank accounts.
- Retirement accounts.
- Your home and/or other property.
- Any stocks, bonds, or other investments.
- Insurance policies you could cash in.
- Business interests (more on this in a minute).
Liabilities
Now comes the more depressing part: you’ll need to list out all your liabilities — in other words, your debts. Include the exact figure you still owe; this is why you have to hunt down that paperwork. You might think you’ve paid way more on that student loan than you actually have when you take compound interest into account.
Examples of liabilities:
- Student loans.
- Personal loans.
- Auto loan.
- Mortgage.
- Credit card balance (total for all credit cards).
- Other financed purchases (For example, if you financed furniture or have a store charge card).
- Other long-term debt, such as medical bills, back taxes, or liens or judgments against you.
When you have everything listed out, simply do the math.
Reminder: Net Worth = What You Own - What You Owe
Now let’s mathematically explain how to calculate Net worth
For example:
For a given company whose asset owned is valued at $6,410,000 and liability valued at $522,000. Determine the assets of the company. (Remember you MUST write down all owned assets and liabilities to enable you get your accurate net worth)
Solution:
To calculate the net worth of a company using the figures provided, we can use the formula:
Net Worth = Total Assets - Total Liabilities
Substituting the values given in the question, we get:
Net Worth = $6410000 - $522000
Net Worth = $5888000
Therefore, the net worth of the company is $5,888,000.

Net worth doesn’t mean they have that amount in cash. Most of their net worth could be tied up in less liquid assets like real estate, businesses, collectibles, etc.
Also, maybe they donate to many charities. 10 charities and you’re up to $1m.
Forbes (the canonical source for estimating the net worths of the very rich) usually includes money they've pledged, but not money they've actually given away. So the Gates Foundation doesn't count as part of Bill Gates' net worth, nor does it count as part of Buffett's. However, the money Buffett has promised to give to the Gates Foundation (but not yet given) does count. This is also how they treat Pierre Omidyar.
The actual decision is pretty arbitrary, since the scorecard is generally not, e.g., "How many yachts can he buy?" but "How well has he accumulated money?"
Quite a lot but tax authorities quite rightly don’t disclose individual contributions. It’s worth noting that although the US tax system isn’t as redistributive as in Europe Americans, on average, voluntarily donate more to charity.

However, when he was diagnosed with cancer, everything fell away. The star all-rounder fought hard and defeated the life-threatening disease but he was never the same post that. The Punjab-born cricketer stayed away from the game for more than a year before making a return in September 2012.
However, after his battle with cancer, Yuvraj along with his mother, started a foundation named YouWeCan. The mission of this was to spread awareness about cancer. There’s a YouWeCan fashion brand as well. The money raised by it goes to the YouWeCan charity.
2. Irfan Pathan and Yusuf Pathan
Irfan and Yusuf Pathan were one of the first notable brothers to hail from Baroda. The all-rounder duo has played some crucial roles in Indian cricket history. While both the brothers were a part of the 2007 World T20 title win, Yusuf was a part of India’s squad in the 2011 World Cup.
Back in 2014, the two started contributing about 40-50% of their earnings to a trust which helps in the education of poor kids, helps widows and also cancer patients. Their inspiration is their father who used to do charity with a meagre amount of Rs 3000 back when he used to earn.
Not only this, the Pathan brothers have often helped flood victims in Kerala, Baroda and all over India. Last year, they helped with relief materials for the ones affected in the floods in Kerala. 3. Virat Kohli
The current Indian captain is one of the best batsmen in world cricket at the moment. There’s no doubt he will go down as one of the greats. Virat Kohli has been piling runs and breaking records for fun over the last few years. Moreover, he is one of the most popular personalities in the world of sport.
However, Kohli hasn’t forgotten to give back to society. He may be bold and aggressive on the field, but he has often contributed in charity. Kohli is a part of the Smile Foundation and has contributed a lot to its success. He is the founder of the Virat Kohli Foundation (VKF). Kohli said that the aim of the organisation is to work with various NGOs and “to create awareness, seek support and raise funds for the various causes they endorse and the philanthropic work they engage in.”
There are charity football matches that the Indian celebrities, including cricketers, actors and other sportspersons play to raise funds for the charity. In fact,...
I would to highlight the word charity, it is done to help the under-privileged people of the society with a pure intention of help and without making it a fan-fare event where Media is all over crushing everyone present.
I cannot tell the exact amount of charity done by each and every player but I know some instances of Cricketers taking care of needs to children in various Child care shelters. Sachin is one of them. he has adopted around 200 children and take care of their shelter, fooding, studies, etc.
Below is one image where Sachin is seen with such kids on the birthday of his daughter Sara

Similar is the case of Rahul Dravid, who has done lots of charity but away from much fanfare. I have heard many instances where he personally went to meet some random people who were critically ill and counting final days in ICU of some hospital but they had a special wish of meeting The WALL before they take their last breath. Even after being so busy Dravid met these people and made their wish come true. Shouldn't I count this a charity of happiness.
Search some more and you will come to know about many many such instances of charity by all the players.

You could further go into details like liquid / illiquid, etc, but this is the broad view of it.
Why would someone want to know this?
Is it to evaluate his goodness as a human being? If only we looked inward instead of at other people!
From personal experience, Sachin Tendulkar has lent his support to Daan Utsav, India’s largest festival of giving. He’s made a video promoting Daan Utsav. As volunteers, we have used his message of giving over and over again. It has doubtless helped other people give more. How do you quantify that?
Good luck and happy giving!
To the best of my knowledge they are very humble natured and generous people. Mostly they participate in this noble cause by supporting the charitable organizations .
Yes of course they do, that's how they save their taxes. And they do it for society too but most celebrities, cricketers do it for tax saving.
The poor hands down, poor people do all the work, clean up all the mess, and shoulder the burden of the care of the less fortunate, no question.
Without a doubt the poor give far more to charity as a percentage of their net worth. Poor people will give all they have, where rich people give a tiny percentage of what they hold onto.
Taking the initiative of adopting a village and sponsoring many schools in Mumbai is what he has done quite recently.
