As is common with very large countries, there are too many wacky stories coming out India that don’t really become well-known in other parts of the world. One crazy case was that of a guru named Nityananda. He was accused of rape by a former follower.
Nityananda denied the accusation, claiming he was “innocent like a child” and also “impotent and with underdeveloped genitals”. So he was forced to undergo a “potency test” to see if he was, indeed, incapable of getting a boner. It was a huge media circus. Eventually the tests revealed that Nityananda was actually physically normal but suffered from low testosterone levels.
He wasn’t able to get his little soldier to salute, but this may have been due to various medication he uses, among them medication for diabetes. Furthermore, the self-claimed God refused various other testing methods, among them an injection directly into his holy sceptre that would have shown whether or not he was physically able to erect it with a little extra assistence. The doctors ultimately ruled “there is no evidence to suggest that the person is incapable of intercourse”. Lo and behold, Nityananda, rather than face the music, absconded from the law and is, until today, nowhere to be seen. The story was particularly funny because the guru got off on claiming he was pure and innocent and free from earthly desires… turns out he was full of it. Who would have guessed?
