Ok, math time!
First, some ground rules. I’ll be saying that the population density is equal to that of Manila, a very densely populated city. In addition, I’ll be saying that the surface is equal to one city on Earth, say, New York. In addition, I’ll be saying that each level is 10 meters tall. I’ll also be saying that 90 percent of Coruscant is city. This accounts for industrial areas and a small sea.
So, Coruscant has a radius of about 6,120 kilometres. However, there are 5126 levels under the surface. If each is 10 meters tall, then Coruscant’s real radius is 6171 kilometres.
Now, let’s find the surface area. I’ll spare you the math, but Coruscant has a surface area of 479,000,000 kilometres squared. If 90% is city, then that is 431,100,000 kilometres of city.
Now, let’s multiply that by Manila’s population density to get 30,721,479,000,000. That is over 30 trillion people! That is only on the first level! It doesn’t account for the 5000 levels below it.
So, that is how many people live on the first level of Coruscant!
Stay safe,
-Ben
