Church bells are effective in keeping demons away, this is because a bell is not a man-made device, it's of divine origin. Before the sentient races such as humans even existed, the divine existed and of course needed to build a home. Part of this home which resembles a castle has hundreds of bells ringing incessantly. The LORD along with the other divine beings helped forge these bells using a design he came up with himself. Given its divine origin, the bell makes a noise that demons do not like hearing even on the astral plane. Demons are known to stay away from places where bells are ringing even if not for religious purposes as again the bell is of divine origin.
