I would make a point up front that logic is fundamental and I even wrote a blog post on it (refer link below). In other words, it’s not a ‘belief’ but a fundament of existence. I would go so far as to say that it’s fundamental even beyond the Universe. I can make this claim because it’s an inherent attribute of mathematics, and arguably mathematics could still exist even if the Universe didn’t. In fact, it’s been proven by logic that there will always be mathematical entities which will remain forever unknown to us, meaning beyond the physical constraints of the Universe’s capacity to inform us.
What’s more, if there is a God, then even God is limited by logic. To give examples: even God can’t tell us the last digit of pi (because it doesn’t exist) and God can’t make a prime number non-prime or vice versa, because it’s determined by logic, not divine fiat.
The physical ‘laws’ that the Universe appears to obey are also constrained by logic, various paradoxes notwithstanding. I don’t see that as tautological if the ‘rules’ of logic transcend the Universe; the most fundamental ‘rule’ being that there can be no contradiction. In fact, that specific rule underpins many mathematical proofs. Just be aware, that not all mathematical ‘truths’ have been proven, according to Godel’s incompleteness theorem, though they may be, as more mathematics is discovered.
