People don’t know from where the concepts of Mundane astrology originate:

There are three divisions of Vedanga Jyotish which are Siddhanta (Mathematics), Samhita (Concepts) and Hora (Horoscopy). However, off late people have stopped learning Siddhanta as they don’t bother about calculations. Softwares are enough. As a result, all sorts of useless methods such as using houses in divisional charts have come up which are completely illogical by the mathematics of astrology. Samhita involves concepts of astrology that can be used at all levels. Here, everything from Muhurat to weather, agriculture to food, politics to war, everything is detailed. But this too has been forgotten as it is 10 times as exhaustive as horoscope based astrology. Hora, or horoscopy is the third and the last aspect of astrology which is the lowest in order of priority and the most insignificant aspect of Jyotish. It involves horoscopes and prashna charts.

Throughout astrological traditions, an astrologer who studies horoscopes was considered as the most mediocre one. The experts were ones who dealt with global affairs. And today, astrologers have just learned the most insignificant part of astrology. You do not have astrologers versed in remedies because Hora does not deal with remedies. You do not have astrologers who can make global or largescale prediction because again, nobody has read Samhita texts.

And today you even have astrologers who would judge dasha by sarva-ashtakvarga because they have no clue about Siddhanta texts.

As a result, genuine predictions are very rare.

People use concepts of Hora to Judge Mundane Events:

Just a few days back, I don’t know where but I came across some article stating that because India’s independence chart has Taurus ascendant, it makes the population lazy and fun-loving because the lagna lord Venus is a lazy and lustful planet. This way of analyzing is ridiculous to the point that if Varahmihira would have heard such a blasphemy, he would have jumped from a mountain.

Mundane charts are not horoscopes. The rules of judgement that apply to horoscopes do not apply to mundane charts. Vimshottari dashas are subjectively used following special rules. Ascendants and event charts are not so significant.

But then, when nobody has bothered studying, how does it matter? Open the chart of a country, think of it as a person, make predictions, and then use your brain to convert those predictions to something that fits a country. Problem solved.

Were that the case, all cars manufactured in the lagna of Venus must give lesser fuel efficiency and better luxury than those manufactured in the lagna of Saturn.

People use just anything to make predictions, without credible info:

To those claiming that Astrology is widely debunked by Science, be careful with the easy dismissals. A lot of scientific facts can be debunked too. Nothing, other than Faith, makes believing in Science any different from believing in Astrology. Science has failed us many times before, with new research and studies constantly debunking many previously held beliefs. At the end of the day, both require some kind of faith to believe in. Scientific evidence is a product of research and tests that still has to be interpreted by a human mind, just like Astrology, it doesn’t make one more accurate than the other.

I’m not an Astrologer but as a once upon a time skeptic who decided to study this mysterious and complex topic, I can testify to Astrology completely changing my life especially my psychology make-up in so many more ways that clinical therapy was unable to. I am indebted to Astrology for giving me the kind of confidence, and self belief that countless amount of clinical therapy and mood-enhancing pills was unable to do.

Astrology is based on Scientific principles. It has solid fundamentals.

Now I will answer the question in 2 parts.

1. Why this question arise ?
You need 10 years of hard work and technical study to become a surgeon , but anybody in India can become astrologer. Guys in college stars seeing girls's hand. Most of the fake astrologers are like that. You need to be a Glib and smart sales guy to become a successful astrologer. Its law of average , which will help you to maximise business. There is no legal authority like SEBI , RBI or MCI to keep a check. People go to astrologer and gets cheated. They loose faith in astrology.

2. Why genuine Astrolger are not available.

Three years ago, there was only one True Vastu Shastra Expert available in world, yes , In world.. He expired last year. Dr Sthapati . Now, there is no legitimate Vastu Shastra Exponent. There are few sincere students left behind.

Let me take an example, why Dr Trehan is a famous heart surgeon in India. Because he is an expert. What about other Heart Surgeons? Arent they popular or genuine ? Dr Trehan also use same tools as other guys do. He has devoted life. He practiced harder. He had a vision.

There are so many Economics and Physics graduates here on quora from India. Why not everybody becomes Mr Raguram Rajan or A P J Abdul Kalam

It takes decades of study and practice to become True Astrolgers. Those who gets enlightened, leave the field and turns spiritual. They dont practice it.

Without astrological details, I can predict events through palmistry. But for that, I need to see a client’s palm. Some people used to send me their left palm and right palm front and back by scanning their palm through a mobile app called Camscanner (without using the option zooming) and most of the time 85–90% of the time I got my predictions correct. But I honestly tell you predicting the time of events through palmistry with a scanned image is very difficult.
