I was not able to find the image of College of Engineering, Pune commemorative stamp issued in 2004 by Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam. Would appreciate if someone could provide the same.

  • University of Mumbai is one of the first three oldest public state universities in India established in 1857. Technically, UM offers engineering degree through affiliate colleges.

  • National Institute of Technology, Patna marked its humble beginning in 1886 with the establishment of Pleaders survey training school which was subsequently promoted asf Bihar College of Engineering Patna in 1924. This makes this institute the 6th Oldest Engineering Institute of India.

  • VJTI, Founded in 1887, was then known as Victoria Jubilee Technical Institute was a school of textiles and mechanical engineering. It was rechristened to Veermata Jijabai Technological Institute in 1997. VJTI was established on the golden jubilee of Queen Victoria (hence the old name of Victoria Jubilee Technical Institute).

  • Jadavpur University established in 1906 as National Council of Education. The Society for the Promotion of Technical Education in Bengal which looked after Bengal Technical Institute (which later became College of Engineering and Technology, Bengal) was amalgamated to NCE. NCE henceforth looked after the College of Engineering and Technology, Bengal. The Government of West Bengal, with the concurrence of the Govt. of India, enacted the necessary legislation to establish Jadavpur University in 1955.

Communicating fluently in English is a gradual process, one that takes a lot of practice and time to hone. In the meantime, the learning process can feel daunting: You want to get your meaning across correctly and smoothly, but putting your ideas into writing comes with the pressure of their feeling more permanent. This is why consistent, tailored suggestions are most helpful for improving your English writing abilities. Seeing specific writing suggestions based on common grammatical mistakes multilingual speakers make in English is key to improving your communication and English writing fluency.

Regular feedback is powerful because writing in a language that isn’t the first one you learned poses extra challenges. It can feel extra frustrating when your ideas don’t come across as naturally as in your primary language. It’s also tough to put your writing out there when you’re not quite sure if your grammar and wording are correct. For those communicating in English in a professional setting, your ability to write effectively can make all the difference between collaboration and isolation, career progress and stagnation.

Grammarly Pro helps multilingual speakers sound their best in English with tailored suggestions to improve grammar and idiomatic phrasing. Especially when you’re writing for work, where time often is in short supply, you want your communication to be effortless. In addition to offering general fluency assistance, Grammarly Pro now includes tailored suggestions for writing issues common among Spanish, Hindi, Mandarin, French, and German speakers, with more languages on the way.

Features for all multilingual speakers

Grammarly’s writing suggestions will catch the most common grammatical errors that multilingual speakers make in English. For example, if you drop an article or misuse a preposition (such as “on” instead of “in”), our sidebar will flag those mistakes within the Fix spelling and grammar category with the label Common issue for multilingual speakers. Most importantly, it will provide suggestions for fixing them. While these errors seem small, one right after another can make sentences awkward and more difficult to absorb. Eliminating them all in one fell swoop is a powerful way to put a more fluent spin on your document.

Features for speakers of specific languages

With Grammarly Pro, speakers of French, German, Hindi, Mandarin, and Spanish can get suggestions specifically tailored to their primary language, unlocking a whole other level of preciseness in written English. For speakers of those languages, our sidebar will flag “false friends,” or cognates, which are words or phrases that have a similar form or sound in one’s primary language but don’t have the same meaning in English.

But now Grammarly Pro’s writing suggestions will catch these types of errors for you and provide suggestions on how to fix them. You can find these suggestions in the Sound more fluent category in our floating sidebar. Simply click on the suggestion highlighted in green, and voila, your English will be more polished and accurate.

PS: Tailored suggestions for other language backgrounds are on the way!

Don’t overpay for car insurance

You're probably getting overcharged on car insurance by $450ish/year¹. Especially if you haven’t compared offers in the last 6 months.

For example: I cut my car insurance bill by ~$1,300 this year by switching carriers (same exact coverage too) and it took me all of 5 minutes.

Take a few minutes and pull up a comparison site (I used Coverage.com, Auto-Savings.com is fine too) and compare multiple offers from different companies in one go.

Worst case scenario: you stay with what you’ve got. Best case scenario: you save a few hundred dollars a year.

Here’s a link to a good comparison site: link.

Use your home equity

If you’re low on cash, you might want to look into a HELOC (home equity line of credit). It’s more/less a credit card, but you borrow against your home’s equity.

They usually have lower interest rates and more flexible terms that a typical loan would.

Here’s a calculator from Lendingtree where you can enter your home info and see how much money you could access: link.

Put your savings to work

I'm always shocked at the number of people still using garbage savings accounts that pay 0.5% (or less) a year. There are literally hundreds of banks that will pay you 8x that, usually 10x that rate.

Here's a bunch of options to compare: link.

Pause credit card interest payments until ~2027

High-interest credit cards can make it ridiculously hard to get ahead.

But, here’s a credit card that offers a 0% intro APR until nearly 2027 and no annual fee, which means more of your money actually goes toward paying down your balance.

It could be worth considering if you want to break that high-interest cycle. Check it out here.

Swap high interest for lower interest

Nothing is more expensive than high interest debt (particularly credit card debt).

Think about using a personal loan to swap your high-interest debt for lower-interest debt.

The basic idea: find a lower-interest personal loan and pay off your credit card with that loan money. Personal loan interest rates are typically far lower than credit card interest rates.

Here’s a free 3rd party service (Bankrate) where you can compare different personal loan options.

Do your own research, of course, but here’s a link to their site.

Get help reducing your debt

If you’ve got $10k+ in unsecured debt (think credit cards, medical bills, etc), you can ask a debt relief company to come in and negotiate it for you. You typically will save around 23% on average (after their fees).

Here’s a link to a savings calculator from National Debt Relief's website if you want to see how much you could save: link here.

The impulse for creation of centres of technical training came from the British rulers of India, and it arose out of the necessity for the training of overseers for construction and maintenance of public buildings, roads, canals, and ports, and for the training of artisans and craftsmen for the use of instruments, and apparatus needed for the army, the navy, and the survey department. While superintending engineers were mostly recruited from Britain, lower grade craftsmen, artisans and sub-overseers were recruited locally. The necessity to make them more efficient led to the establishment of industrial schools attached to the Ordnance Factories Board and other engineering establishments.

I once met a man who drove a modest Toyota Corolla, wore beat-up sneakers, and looked like he’d lived the same way for decades. But what really caught my attention was when he casually mentioned he was retired at 45 with more money than he could ever spend. I couldn’t help but ask, “How did you do it?”

But what really caught my attention was when he casually mentioned he was retired at 45 with more money than he could ever spend. I couldn’t help but ask, “How did you do it?”

He smiled and said, “The secret to saving money is knowing where to look for the waste—and car insurance is one of the easiest places to start.”

He then walked me through a few strategies that I’d never thought of before. Here’s what I learned:

1. Make insurance companies fight for your business

Most people just stick with the same insurer year after year, but that’s what the companies are counting on. This guy used tools like Coverage.com to compare rates every time his policy came up for renewal. It only took him a few minutes, and he said he’d saved hundreds each year by letting insurers compete for his business.

Click here to try Coverage.com and see how much you could save today.

2. Take advantage of safe driver programs

He mentioned that some companies reward good drivers with significant discounts. By signing up for a program that tracked his driving habits for just a month, he qualified for a lower rate. “It’s like a test where you already know the answers,” he joked.

You can find a list of insurance companies offering safe driver discounts here and start saving on your next policy.

3. Bundle your policies

He bundled his auto insurance with his home insurance and saved big. “Most companies will give you a discount if you combine your policies with them. It’s easy money,” he explained. If you haven’t bundled yet, ask your insurer what discounts they offer—or look for new ones that do.

4. Drop coverage you don’t need

He also emphasized reassessing coverage every year. If your car isn’t worth much anymore, it might be time to drop collision or comprehensive coverage. “You shouldn’t be paying more to insure the car than it’s worth,” he said.

5. Look for hidden fees or overpriced add-ons

One of his final tips was to avoid extras like roadside assistance, which can often be purchased elsewhere for less. “It’s those little fees you don’t think about that add up,” he warned.

The Secret? Stop Overpaying

The real “secret” isn’t about cutting corners—it’s about being proactive. Car insurance companies are counting on you to stay complacent, but with tools like Coverage.com and a little effort, you can make sure you’re only paying for what you need—and saving hundreds in the process.

If you’re ready to start saving, take a moment to:

  5. Bracket 4 - SRM Chennai, VIT Vellore, Thapar University, IIIT Jabalpur, KIIT, PSG Coimbatore, NIT Agartala, NIT Meghalaya, NIT Delhi, NIT Goa, MIT Manipal, LNMIIT Jaipur, JIIT Noida, RVCE Banglore, NIRMA Ahemdabad, MS Ramaiah Banglore, BMS Banglore, KJ Somaiah College of Engineering, JNTU Hyderabad, PES Banglore, LIT Nagpur, UPES Dehradun, Sri Sivasubramaniya Nadar College of Engineering, SASTRA, Jamia Millia Islamia, Amrita vishwa vidyapeetham, Siksha ‘O’ Anusandhan

NOTE -

  1. Elite + Bracket 1 and Bracket 2 = Tier 1
  2. Bracket 3 = Tier 1.5/2
  3. Bracket 4 = Tier 2/3

Few Important points -

  1. You can consider Elite and Bracket 1 colleges for any branch, because the brand value that they provide are impeccable. (If specifically, Computer Science is your branch preference, you can consider IIIT Hyderabad in Bracket 1)

Now what do I mean by Brand Value?

Brand value is an international or national repute that the college had established since its foundation. This is something, you will carry throughout your life. And What do you get from it?

See, apart from good peers, great college life, great placements….there are some of the things that are not much talked about.

(a) If you are going for an MBA (IIM A,B,C) after your bachelors from these colleges, you will be highly preferred in placements (specially Consulting).

(b) If you want to do Masters from highly reputed universities of the world like Harvard, MIT, Stanford, Imperial College of London, Oxford, Cambridge etc. You will surely have an upper edge over other candidates from INDIA (Although you need to have excellent academics too)

(c) Last but not the least, the quality of exposure that you would be getting in these colleges in terms of Internships abroad, high class research projects and different fellowships are impeccable.

2. For chemical engineering, ICT should be considered to be at par with Bracket 2.

3. For Aerospace Engineering, IIST, Trivandrum should be considered at par with Bracket 1.

4. VIT Vellore is placed lowered in bracket 3 due to its huge batch size and non-transparent mode of admission There would be extreme high competition due to a big batch size. Although the college has beautiful campus and very active clubs.

5. DTU and NSIT are highly ranked due to very good placements, brand value and locational advantage.

6. DAIICT provides BTech in Information and Communication Technology (Flagship program) and the college has exceptional placements. For BTech (ICT) it can be considered in bracket 2.

7. LIT Nagpur is also a very good college for chemical engineering, adhesives technology and other related specializations.

Special Note -

  1. I have not considered ROI as a parameter for this list. Although most colleges have similar fee structure (not a very huge difference) but fees for BITS are bit high as compared to other colleges.
  2. I have considered all the above mentioned parameters equally to classify these colleges in those brackets. If I had put some of the colleges in a lower bracket, then they might be lacking in one or the other parameters.
  3. Please do not hold any grudges against me, if your college is not in this list. I have tried to compile every college in these brackets to give you a very clear idea.

Edit 1: Based on the list above and your rank, narrow down your list of the colleges that you can get into.

Then, do your individual research about these colleges. Connect with the people who are already studying there. They will help you to chalk out your correct preference.

I hope my answer helps :-)

Peace!!!!!!!

I did my B.Tech at SCT, Trivandrum. But don’t think that my answer is biased. What I’m saying here is the truth.

Its one of the best colleges in the state in terms of education and college life. SCT was established in 1995 and till some years back, SCT was the next best ranked college after CET.

And coming to the present situation, SCT is still doing very well compared to other self financing colleges in the state. But the pass percentages has reduced little if you take a look at the past few years.

Let me tell you the plus points.

  1. Good Quality Students

In Engineering seat allotments, SCT is the most preferred college among all other self financing colleges. So most of the students studying here are talented.
  2. Good Faculty
Most of them are experienced and have good teaching experience. Most teachers have doctorate I think. But In my opinion, faculty is the least point to be worried while choosing a college. Because you are not going to get the dedicated faculties unless you are in a Private engineering college. (Im not generalising, But its a fact). As far as I know, they are the most dedicated ones, trying their best to teach their students.
Today, there are lot of sources for an Engineering student to get study materials. And thats the best way to study. Its not good to depend only on Teachers for Engineering education.
But, SCT’s teachers are skilled, helpful and friendly.
  3. Best Labs
SCT is famous for its Mechanical Workshop. Also for CS, EC, Biotechnology you will get well set up labs.
  4. Placements
This is one of the best opportunity you will get if you get into SCT. Every year almost 80% of the students gets placed, unless you have some backpapers. Companies like Oracle, Amazon, TCS, Infosys, Mu Sigma, conduct campus placements in SCT.
  5. College Life
No Uniforms, No strict ‘school-like’ rules. It is heaven ! The 4 years that you spend in SCT will be the best years in your life.

Modern era, as the scope of Engineering was increasing day-by-day, and India was following developed nations' policies to get developed. Opening Engineering Colleges seemed a good chance of growth by the wise people of the nation. As a result government has opened hundreds of Engineering colleges across India and some people saw business in opening them thus, they opened private Universities.
Ideas behind government Engineering colleges in India:-

  • to foster, promote and sustain scientific research in all aspects - pure, applied and educational;
  • to ensure adequate supply of research scientists of higher quality;
  • to recognize the work of research scientists as an important component of the strength of the nation;
  • to encourage programmes for the training of scientific and technical personnel to fulfil the country's needs in science and education, agriculture and industry, and defence;
  • to encourage dissemination and discovery of knowledge in an atmosphere of scientific freedom.

Whereas private Universities are there to fill their pockets with the money of rich people of the nation.

The reason of joking was Anatomy, medicine and surgery books were translated from English, old Indian surgical history added & there was no dissection. In Sanskrit college Anatomy class were taken after math class. Despite the jokes, it did the work of testing. It was decided to start dissection in Calcutta first & build another medical college at Madras.

L'école de médecine de Pondichery had no full course in the initial phase. It is over promoted as first. It had more role in International Medicine.

Both, Calcutta Medical College & Madras Medical college were first standard medical colleges. One of the first female doctor in this World passed from Madras Medical College. Madras Medical College's hospital dates back to 1664. Calcutta Medical College offered the exact course like that of England plus dissection. Bhodrolok class could read this college but still usually went to England. To only show it is good, many peoples took the course lol

That year it was decided to start 20 medical colleges within the next 20 years. It is never possible to list more than first 5 with 100% accuracy. Number of Goverment medical colleges before 1947 was not less.

Stanley Medical College (1830) had unofficial dissection system for Indians trained in Europe, possibly for practice of dissection.

  2. L'école de médecine de Pondichery (1823), Pondichery

Woohoo! Another fan of Engineering Physics!

It is one of the newer branches in India with a lot of scope for research. In 2016, even AIR-6 in JEE-Advanced opted for EP in IIT-B.

The list (in order of preference):

  • IIT-B
  • IIT-D
  • IIT-M
  • IIT-G
  • DTU (DCE)
  • NIT- Calicut

These are all I know of. I guess there won't be many private colleges giving this degree as they mostly focus on branches which offer superior placements (CS/IT/EE).

If you opt for this branch, you should be ready to focus on Masters as well, it will provide a big boost to your profile.

Now a days in India there are many engineering colleges, at the time of admission students get confused that where to take admission. I will tell you my experience. at the time of admission i had visited many colleges but most of them are overrated then i came to know about this KCC Institute in Greater Noida. I visited that college and also read reviews and talked to some of its students. i did a lot of R&D about KCC on my own. I found out that it is very underrated college though it offers quality education, good placement. KCC Ranked 2nd in Teaching Pedagogy and Ranked 2 for faculties in on

I found out that it is very underrated college though it offers quality education, good placement. KCC Ranked 2nd in Teaching Pedagogy and Ranked 2 for faculties in online surveys. Latest highest placement of KCC was upto 22LPA and average between 5–10LPA. KCC has tied up with globally known companies for training and certification in different technologies companies are- Microsoft imagine Academy, Oracle, Autodesk, Texas instruments E-Yantra IIT Bombay, Power system lab. Students get certified under these companies and KCC do not charge anything for these certification which is very expensive if you do from some coaching classes.

KCC has state-of-Art Infrastructure and this is the largest campus in whole Greater Noida spread in 40 acres, having in-campus boys and girls hostel, huge sports ground with almost every outdoor and indoor games.KCC also offers scholarship as well and fee structure of KCC is very economic even in direct admission ,KCC do not charge any donation. After all these facilities how can you not take admission in KCC. As per the aspects KCC posses it is very underrated according to me. For me it is the best private institution i have seen so far.

First You Have tp Understand that old Colleges are having some reputation as they are thier from many years , OLD IS GOLD , but this qoute doesn't fit everywhere .

In terms of IITS NITS old are prefered undoubtedly bcoz of the permanent staff of proffesors big gopd labs ( only in some old Colleges ) yes Thier Rankings are high but they are givn more priority than new and only some new are good better than them some…

But In Some Cases College's this is not the case , only some private colleges give takkar to iits nits placements , campus and many more criteria are considered .

Companies tend to go towards old as they have the accreditation and rankings , mostly big 4 companies like you know right? Microsoft Google Apple Etc .

But At The End What matters is your knowledge how much you have gained feeded in yourselves taht results in good placements and all other things , Even if you have not into iits nits its not bad , and colleges doesn't matter just keep in mind , but study so hard that you get into big collges good Colleges iits nits as you get some amount if relief and if yu have time why to waste it .

Best Of Luck For Your Future .

Peace Out 💯

Delhi University known as DU

Even after DTU and NSUT have become stand alone state university, CIC (Cluster Innovation Center) is still part of DU.

IPU is also a good varsity but not famous as above universities.

According to me, having seats for other state students(ration is not 50:50 but still has) and admitting all students based on JEE Main is the reason behind making them popular.
