Aquarius’ love is actually fairly simple. However, this simplicity is what makes it so complicated for others to apply or even understand. Aquarius is the free spirit of the zodiac. Not quite like a vagabond, but very detached in a loving way. How can one be detached but loving? That’s what makes Aquarius so simple. Aquarius’s 7th house is Leo, the love that we see, feel, and express. We think love is the Sun, when in actuality, the Sun just exposes the heart and casts away any shadows that lurk around it. Aquarius is what Leo is showing, love without condition, without demand, without want. Pure Love.

This sounds very beautiful, but it’s also hard because love is constantly confused with expectations. Like, how love “should” for a lot of people. What person do you know doesn’t believe love should be a certain way? Even low vibrations of Aquarius believe there’s a certain way to love. The true essence of love is just a vibration, it’s only a feeling. Love isn’t something that’s ‘obtainable’ outside of the self, affectionate, or different amongst certain types of people. It’s only the feeling, says Aquarius energy. This is why and how Aquarius gets the bashful judgment of being alien, easily bored, or cold. Aquarius energy recognizes that feeling love doesn’t have attachments, expectations, nor is it different between certain people. It’s only the way we show our love that makes it different between everyone.

In having such a basic and pure point of view on love, this can make loving an Aquarius extremely difficult. Unless the partner of an Aquarius understands that controlling Aquarius’ actions in anyway like ultimatums, thoughts, or trying to “keep” Aquarius to themselves isn’t actually love, Aquarius will always run. This also explains why Aquarians tend to have more friendships than go out of their way to seek romantic relationships. Friends don’t always need you to prove you love them. This isn’t to say Aquarius doesn’t want to show their love (they do a lot), but they do it in their own way. In friendships, their way of loving is mostly accepted, while in relationships, how they tend to love can usually upset the partner because it’s not along the partner’s expectations, “how love should be”. Aquarius is a fixed energy, therefore when they commit, they fully commit and you’ll know and feel it. Romantic love for Aquarius can usually take some time though. Loving so deeply as they do, they tend to stay away from relationships unless they truly feel they found the right person.

Aquarius energy belongs to the collective, but they belong to no one. This means, they are always individual, special in their own right. However, they are also a part of “the bigger picture” or influence in the world, therefore they belong to everyone — but only in the way they express their individuality. Being around people, hanging out with friends, or being apart of groups, are the conditions of being with an Aquarius. The willingness to give them the space to be authentic. This can give many partners a feeling that Aquarius is disloyal, insincere, deceptive, unfaithful, or disinterested in relationships however, that is far from the truth. Aquarius actually adores commitment and belonging to someone, but not like a Scorpio or Taurus, but more like how a Capricorn and Virgo would be if they were teammates working on a project. Someone that trusts them and Aquarius can trust, someone who’s aware of their insecurities but don’t let them cast a shadow over the relationship, someone open and willing to communicate, but ultimately, someone who is authentic and uncompromising as many Aquarius either are or wish they could be.

It doesn’t have to take a special person to love an Aquarius, but it does require a bit of fearlessness in the love between the person and the Water Bearer.

The emotions are separate from the self, but they are one in tandem in life.
