I love the great outdoors. So I decided to go explore some old logging trails with a buddy of mine to pass the time. We were just young teenagers. After about a mile or so, we came to some barefoot tracks in the sand of the logging road. These tracks just appeared from out of the woods and then after about 100 feet disappeared off of the old sandy logging road and back into the woods! This didn’t make any sense to me b/c who would go walking barefoot through the woods and down onto an old logging road in the middle of nowhere? Sure, the sand would be ideal. But these tracks took off straight through the woods! Pine cones, pine needles, and all kinds of sharp things would make that a very unpleasant experience. Also, the tracks in the sand had sunk down considerably. I was about 150 lbs at that point and my track sunk down about a half of an inch. These tracks had sunk down about 3 inches and were extremely fresh.

It was about that time that every hair on the back of my neck stood up! Neither of us felt alone. We soldiered on for another 30 minutes or so and even sat down under a shade tree to relax but neither one of us could seem to. We both felt like we were being watched. It was so uncomfortable that we both got up and ran home! I’ll never forget that experience. And I’ve never come across human barefoot tracks in the woods like that again.
