Yet again, I may get in trouble because this film is pretty beloved.

I like the film Groundhog Day a lot, but I hate its general message. In it, Bill Murray plays a not-very-likable guy. Not a killer, not an abuser, not a Klansman, just not a very friendly guy. He is then mentally tortured by the universe until he can learn his lesson and become a better person.

If you’re not great to other people, it seems, the universe might torture you every day, for years on end, until you learn to be nice.
