I think there’s an unhelpful myth that keeps repeating itself— in A New Hope, The Dark Crystal, Avatar, Dune, etc. etc.— that the hero is destined from birth to save the community, and the role of rest of the community is basically to wait till he shows up and say thank you when he does.

Oh, and PS — Thelma and Louise. Men want to use their power to destroy us, so we will assume power instead. And what will we do with it? Destroy ourselves, because we can think of nothing better to do.
