Overpaying on car insurance

You’ve heard it a million times before, but the average American family still overspends by $417/year on car insurance.

If you’ve been with the same insurer for years, chances are you are one of them.

Pull up Coverage.com, a free site that will compare prices for you, answer the questions on the page, and it will show you how much you could be saving.

That’s it. You’ll likely be saving a bunch of money. Here’s a link to give it a try.

Consistently being in debt

If you’ve got $10K+ in debt (credit cards…medical bills…anything really) you could use a debt relief program and potentially reduce by over 20%.

Here’s how to see if you qualify:

Head over to this Debt Relief comparison website here, then simply answer the questions to see if you qualify.

It’s as simple as that. You’ll likely end up paying less than you owed before and you could be debt free in as little as 2 years.

Missing out on free money to invest

It’s no secret that millionaires love investing, but for the rest of us, it can seem out of reach.

Times have changed. There are a number of investing platforms that will give you a bonus to open an account and get started. All you have to do is open the account and invest at least $25, and you could get up to $1000 in bonus.

Pretty sweet deal right? Here is a link to some of the best options.

Having bad credit

A low credit score can come back to bite you in so many ways in the future.

From that next rental application to getting approved for any type of loan or credit card, if you have a bad history with credit, the good news is you can fix it.

Head over to BankRate.com and answer a few questions to see if you qualify. It only takes a few minutes and could save you from a major upset down the line.

How to get started

Hope this helps! Here are the links to get started:

Have a separate savings account
Stop overpaying for car insurance
Finally get out of debt
Start investing with a free bonus

I once met a man who drove a modest Toyota Corolla, wore beat-up sneakers, and looked like he’d lived the same way for decades. But what really caught my attention was when he casually mentioned he was retired at 45 with more money than he could ever spend. I couldn’t help but ask, “How did you do it?”

He smiled and said, “The secret to saving money is knowing where to look for the waste—and car insurance is one of the easiest places to start.”

He then walked me through a few strategies that I’d never thought of before. Here’s what I learned:

1. Make insurance companies fight for your business

Most people just stick with the same insurer year after year, but that’s what the companies are counting on. This guy used tools like Coverage.com to compare rates every time his policy came up for renewal. It only took him a few minutes, and he said he’d saved hundreds each year by letting insurers compete for his business.

Click here to try Coverage.com and see how much you could save today.

2. Take advantage of safe driver programs

He mentioned that some companies reward good drivers with significant discounts. By signing up for a program that tracked his driving habits for just a month, he qualified for a lower rate. “It’s like a test where you already know the answers,” he joked.

You can find a list of insurance companies offering safe driver discounts here and start saving on your next policy.

3. Bundle your policies

He bundled his auto insurance with his home insurance and saved big. “Most companies will give you a discount if you combine your policies with them. It’s easy money,” he explained. If you haven’t bundled yet, ask your insurer what discounts they offer—or look for new ones that do.

4. Drop coverage you don’t need

He also emphasized reassessing coverage every year. If your car isn’t worth much anymore, it might be time to drop collision or comprehensive coverage. “You shouldn’t be paying more to insure the car than it’s worth,” he said.

5. Look for hidden fees or overpriced add-ons

One of his final tips was to avoid extras like roadside assistance, which can often be purchased elsewhere for less. “It’s those little fees you don’t think about that add up,” he warned.

The Secret? Stop Overpaying

The real “secret” isn’t about cutting corners—it’s about being proactive. Car insurance companies are counting on you to stay complacent, but with tools like Coverage.com and a little effort, you can make sure you’re only paying for what you need—and saving hundreds in the process.

If you’re ready to start saving, take a moment to:

Saving money on auto insurance doesn’t have to be complicated—you just have to know where to look. If you'd like to support my work, feel free to use the links in this post—they help me continue creating valuable content.

I don't know how accurate Alexa's analytics are but since everyone uses them. Here is a chart showing visitor percentage by region from Alexa : Quora.com Site Info

One can see that India contributes most to the visitor share. So if number of people visiting is anything to go by, Indian users certainly seem more active than users from the US. Also Quora is ranked 166th in India compared to 622 in US.

Most Quora Users are from India in my opinion.

My guess is that 38 percent are from India.

About 30 to 33 percent from the USA

The rest are from the rest of the world.

Earlier Americans were the largest single group on Quora but after Quora was made available in in 8 Indian languages, membership from India increased significantly and Indians overtook the Americans.

I can’t quote any reliable source to back this up.

This is my guess.

Quora has yet only enlightened the public about total number of worldwide users, when they have had a valuation round. The last round was in April 2017 where Adam D’Angelo stated that Quora has 190 million users against the 100 million the year before.

Given that the user acquirance is growing at a constant rate, Quora should have around 275 million users today.

According to Alexa, 37.2% of Quora’s visitors come from the US making it the country with most users. India is second largest with 18%.

If every Quora account were a distinct person, then the answer would be obvious - the majority live under goat-laden bridges and don't come out in the sunlight.

But when one person can create hundreds of accounts daily, it's almost impossible to know.

Though it isn’t recorded as of now, but, in April 2017 Quora had submitted a report where they deemed to have 190 million users using this platform for sharing their knowledge.

As from the country with the maximum users, it has to be India.

The number can be found only if Quora releases a statement about this subject. The only thing that you can find out for free is from where is the most traffic coming to Quora. And for that you can use Alexa . com and see that:

United States = 37.2%

India = 18.0%

United Kingdom = 5.8%

Canada = 3.8%

My guess would be that most users are from the US.

Quora should be the brain storming session to know the real pulse of public in any country. It must bring out the creativeness , healthy criticism, positive attitude. Real questions be given importance rather junk. If the organisers work for or against the govts of the day, then Quora is all Shit, and must be shut down immediately.

Looks like most are Americans. One sees it when they ask a general question about something like government and clearly it refers to American government or lifestyle. They don’t even bother to identify the country.

I too am curious about this.

While it must have been from USA initially, I now venture to guess that it is from India and further venture to suggest that 38 percent of the traffic now comes from India.

I am not quoting these statistics with any authority and would love to hear an official figure from the Quora Managment on this.

Yes, it is.

The USA is where Quora originated.

Most of the traffic here was from USA till recently.

I now understand India has overtaken USA.

More traffic comes from India than from USA.

This is understandable because Quora is now available in India in 8 languages and it has cast its net far and wide over large swathes of the country and its internet savvy population. India’s population is four times the US population.

I am not sure of the figures but I heard that nowadays 38 percent of the traffic on Quora comes from India and only 24 percent from USA. I am unable to quote the sources.

But in spite

Yes, it is.

The USA is where Quora originated.

Most of the traffic here was from USA till recently.

I now understand India has overtaken USA.

  • The biggest group of Quorans is from India.
  • The second biggest group is from the USA.

Then there's a real big drop off...

... and then there's the UK and Canada and slightly behind them, China.

The ever increasing popularity of Quora in India is amazing and worth noticing. Taking reference from other answers to this question for previous years stats. It shows percentage of visitors on quora from India and USA(these two country covers around two third of overall Quora traffic).

USA: As Quora’s country of origin, it makes sense that a major portion of Quora’s user base comes from the States. Being an American myself, I have to occasionally fight the assumption that everyone here is American.

India: Those not familiar with Indian Quora may not realize just how many Indians there are here, but the numbers are pretty incredible. With a billion people in the country, that shouldn't really be a surprise.

Quora could use a few more of those.

Corrections:

I had originally listed Bhutan, but am happy to say I was wrong about that as there are several Bhutanese Quorans, including Zam Rain. I was hoping to get corrected so that I could discover Quorans from interesting places so feel free to keep correcting me.

After the first correction, I decided to do some digging myself and I can confirm that there appears to be exactly one Quoran from Liechtenstein. Rogier van der Heide is a resident and the most viewed writer on Liechtenstein. The reason I know that it's just him is that said list only includes two writers and the other has merely visited. I'm happy to say that the international diversity of Quora users has allowed me to remove another country from my list.

Wow, I got some updates. Thank you User-12843052585749370349 for your excellent research.

Despite having one of the lowest populations of any nation, Palau is indeed represented on Quora by Balie Alexander.

Quora User is from Swaziland.

Quora User is from Lesotho.

Michelle B. Wilson is from Vanuatu.

Let me explain with the example of ongoing outrage related to murder in Udaipur.

Type 1:

Two radicalised muslim men killed a Hindu tailor over a social media post. This issue shouldn't be taken lightly. Strict action needed.

(This guy is straight forward. Mentioning religion is important because the conflict was due to religion.)

Type 2:

Two muslim men killed a tailor due to his support to Nupur Sharma. But in 1937 a hindu also killed a Muslim. I condemn both.

Type 3:

Who told Kanhaiya to support Nupur and hurt religious feelings of two muslim men? It is his own mistake.

(This man smartly does victim blaming.)

Type 4:

Why didn't Kanhaiya Lal fight back like jews did? I like fighters. I don't like weak people.

(No words.)

Type 5:

What do you mean murder? It is our constitutional right to follow our principles.

(This guy has lost it.)

Type 6:

Instead of wasting our internet pack discussing a man who has already died, we can donate the same money to build school and college.

(This person is downplaying as the victim as he is not from his political wing.)

Type 7:

This has nothing to do with any religion. No religion teaches hate. Knife took his life and not anyone else.

(This guy is the one who goes to funeral and talks about hospital expenses of the dead.)

Type 8:

The murderer is male. The dead is male. As a man I feel women also must feel inclusive.

(This guy is a simp)

Type 9:

The roll number of one accused was 20 and the other accused was 02 in their school. If you combine, it will be 2002, which is nothing but Gujarat riots. Modi should apologise for gujrat riots. Not my PM.

(These people are Modified)

Type 10

“Two customers killed a tailor.”

The above is a headline for Times of India. By this logic, we should say, “A civil engineer killed traders on 9/11)

I can think of several reasons which should make it obvious, if added up:

  • Quora is US based. It’s an American company started by American people. In its first months of existence, it spread a lot from friend to friend to coworker to family, and so on.
  • The only language accepted to be used on Quora for most of its life has been English. Which, I heard, is pretty popular in the US.
  • USA is the third country in the world in term of number of Internet users.
  • USA is also the country with the most Facebook users in the world (since you can easily sign up via your Facebook profile, it stimulates more use

  • The only real candidates which could surpass the number of American users (simply by considering the countries’ population) are China and India. China may have a LOT of people, but fewer than 1% (~10,000,000) speak a level of English that would be useful on Quora, which is a lot less than the number of English speakers the US (~250,000,000). In India, however, the English incidence and proficiency is much higher (~125,000,000 speakers), and we can actually see this pretty well around here already, since Indians are the second most numerous visitors/users on Quora.

I remember somebody from Quora mentioning that a vast majority of users come from India and USA.

So in absolute terms I would venture that those two countries are most represented .

However in terms of percentage of population - that's hard to guess without looking Quora’s data. Also percentage wise countries with developed infrastructure and small population can easily take the lead . Vatican only need 420 users to be on Quora in order to have 50% of its population on Quora . That's going to be hard to beat. :)

Anecdotal evidence would suggest that's countries with underdeveloped internet infrastructure like Mali for instance have the least number of users both in percentage and absolute terms.
