I owned a security alarm company in Maui, Hawaii and hired a number of young guys who flew there with nothing more than the clothes on their backs to live under the warm sun. One of those new employees was named Jeff and he had moved there and was essentially homeless on the beach. He had a fellow beach buddy named Chris who was also a young guy, maybe 21. He had moved there from Washington State and also found himself homeless and living on the beach. What made Chris memorable was his ridiculous confidence and matter-of-fact assertion when asked what he wanted to do with his life? He said he was going to “move to Hollywood, become a HUGE star and make sh*t loads of money.”

Of course, as a serious businessman, stupid comments like this from stoner beach buds made my head spin. They literally have a better chance of winning the lottery than being the star of Steven Spielberg’s next blockbuster movie. So you can imagine my surprise when just a few years later, I am watching the blockbuster movie Jurassic World and the star of the movie is that same homeless kid Chris. Chris Pratt. Yep, he’s now an A-list actor making sh*t loads of money. Way to go Chris!! You called it and believed in yourself and now you’re living the American Dream. Bravo!
