Obviously, cars in Japan and most other Asian countries have smaller dimensions than cars in North America.

Of course this is related to the width of the roads in Asian countries which are quite narrow. So it takes a car that is compact in size to make it easier for the driver to maneuver on relatively narrow roads. That is why in Japan there is a kei car program, where the dimensions are regulated, the engine capacity is limited and the amount of power is also limited.
