Laptops hinges break generally after 1 year of use and is common in casual laptops. Companies intentionally make defective chassis from cheap plastics for casual laptops as casual laptops are cheap and hence less profitable. So, the best way of earning profits is through getting repairs which is facilitated via these kind of tricks.
If you want laptops that don’t break, then buy only these types of laptops:
- Business or premium laptops. Examples are; In dell, Vostro is business & XPS is premium. In Lenovo, Thinkpad is business & Legion is premium etc
- Aluminium laptops. These pretty much don’t break as aluminium does not break. Though they can be dented easily
- Mil-STD-810 certified laptops. Mainly ASUS sells these kind of laptops which guarantee a certain build quality in the gaming segment (TUF, ROG etc). As they are gaming laptops, they are made of plastic to reduce discomfort caused by heating of aluminium. But they are made from high grade plastics with carefully engineered designs to not break easily. Some other laptops like HP also have the Mil-STD-810 certifications for certain models.
If you are buying any other type of laptop, then you are unnecessarily risking your laptop’s durability
