Today we are launching Poe subscriptions, which will provide paying users with access to bots based on two powerful new language models: GPT-4 from OpenAI and Claude+ from Anthropic.
GPT-4 is a major advance relative to ChatGPT and is the most powerful language model available to the world today. It is particularly strong at creative writing, problem solving (e.g. math and physics), and instruction following. For example, GPT-4 solves this 2023 AIME (math contest) problem correctly:
Claude+ is significantly better than Claude, especially in non-English languages. In English, it generates more in-depth answers than Claude as well. Poe is currently the only consumer internet product with either Claude or Claude+ available.
Because we are moving fast and we wanted to make these new models available to as many people as possible as quickly as possible, we are unfortunately only able to offer subscriptions to iOS and Apple Silicon (M1/M2 chip) Mac users of Poe immediately. If you subscribe via the Poe app in the App Store (which can be done on any iPhone, iPad, or Apple Silicon Mac), then you will have access to the models via the Poe web interface as well at poe.com. We are working hard to enable web users of Poe who do not have access to any iOS device to subscribe as soon as possible.
We are also initially providing all Poe users with the ability to send 1 free message per day to GPT-4 and Claude+. Other bots on Poe, including those based on ChatGPT and Claude, will continue to be free for unlimited usage.
When other developers add bots to Poe in the near future, they will be free and accessible to everyone by default, but developers may choose to limit access from non-subscribers as part of a revenue share.
Subscriptions are available in most countries worldwide immediately, but we will be working to expand the set of countries further going forward.
