Ingredients for Tomato Bath Recipe

  • Basmati rice - 1 cup
  • Dried red chilli - 2
  • Ginger - 1 inch
  • Cumin seeds - ½ tsp
  • Coconut - 2.5 tbsp
  • Coriander seeds - 1 tsp
  • Oil - 2tbsp
  • Bay leaf - 1
  • Cinnamon - ½ inch
  • Thinly sliced onion - 1
  • Finely chopped tomato - 3 medium size
  • Peas - 2 tbsp
  • Turmeric powder - ½ tsp
  • Garam masala - ½ tsp
  • Finely chopped coriander leaves - 2 tbsp
  • Salt - as per taste

Method for Preparation of Tomato Bath Recipe

  1. Wash and drain 1 cup of basmati rice soak in water for around 20 minutes.
  2. In a blender take 2.5 tbsp coconut, 2 dried red chilli, 1 inch ginger, ½ tsp cumin seeds, 1 tsp coriander seeds, with required amount of water grind into a fine paste.
  3. Heat a pressure cooker add 2 tbsp oil or ghee as it heats add 1 bay leaf, ½ inch cinnamon and fry on low flame.
  4. Add 1 thinly sliced onion and cook well.
  5. Add 3 medium size finely chopped tomato and mix well.
  6. Let it cook until the tomatoes turn soft and mushy.
  7. Now add the ground masala paste and mix well.
  8. Add 2 tbsp green peas, ½ tsp turmeric powder, ½ tsp garam masala and mix well.
  9. Now add 2 cups water, 1 tsp salt and mix well.
  10. Add 1 cup rice and mix gently, add salt if required.
  11. Now add 2 tbsp finely chopped coriander leaves.
  12. Cover the cooker and pressure cook for 2 whistles on medium flame.
  13. Delicious tomato bath is ready to serve.
