I helped a friend by composing a short email to his employer because he was furloughed, then re-called back to work and did not want to go back during COVID.

I typed out a 5 line email and emailed it to him. He sent the text via email to his employer.

He was very grateful and sent me a thank you card and $200.

I did not expect anything at all but was happily surprised.
