I admit I overthink sometimes. Even though I trust my husband, it still happens. I think it’s part of being a sensitive person. But to some, overthinking on a whole different level.
It comes from various reasons. The common ones are stress, insecurity, and major life experiences.
First, stress. Stressful situations trigger you to be anxious; to worry about a lot of things. There comes overthinking. You think about things that are beyond your mind’s ability to comprehend and it might lead to unwanted results such as ruining your schedules, your plans, or even your relationships.
Second, insecurity. If you always think that others are better than you, you’re just degrading your own worth. Thinking about people’s impression of you and wanting to look perfect might actually ruin your trust in yourself. Insecurities shrug off your confidence and might cause you to be anxious all the time.
Lastly, major life experiences. Cheating and betrayal are examples of these. If you encountered these things in the past, there is a great possibility that you might have gained trust issues which, of course, leads to overthinking. You might always worry if people are lying to you, or you might even believe in the worst case scenario you just invented in your own imagination.
