The Winnipeg General Strike of 1919 was a historic labor action that lasted six weeks and involved over 30,000 workers. The strike crippled Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada's third largest city at the time.

And such movements after the Depression and WW2 to demand better living conditions for all Canadians.

It was Saskatchewan in the 50s that first brought in public health care to Canada.

We needed no other country to inform our politics, and we need none now.
