It always cracks me up when a character calls the protaganist on the phone and says, "Turn the news on, right now!" When the TV is turned on, it is ALWAYS on the exact right channel and the pertinent news story starts up immediately, like the reporter was on standby, just waiting for the cue, "OK, time to start reporting! The hero of our movie is watching you now!"
