One of the oldest mosques or Masjids in Chithi Bandi/Aragam is Masjid Mustafa in Manx Muhalla, Chithi Bandi. It’s also called Rather Masjid. It was one of the first mosques in both villages, Aragam as well as Chithi Bandi. It was the first mosque where all the people of both villages gathered and prayed Juma prayers together. However, due to the small size of the Masjid’s infrastructure, the neighboring village, Aragam, started building their own main Jamia Masjid.
One day, during Juma prayers, the second floor of the Masjid collapsed because it couldn’t bear the weight of the people. After this incident, Aragam Jamia Masjid officially started holding prayers in their own Jamia Masjid, which at that time was not fully built.
After that, the second mosque that was established in both villages was the main Jamia Masjid of Aragam, followed by the main Jamia Masjid of Chithi Bandi. The conflict between the two sects, Deobandi and Bareilly, occurred in the main Jamia Masjid Chithi Bandi. After this conflict, the Bareilly sect established their own mosque, Mohalla Masjid, located in Gour Mohalla of Chithi Bandi. The Bareilly sect made this Gour Mohalla Masjid their main Jamia and began practicing their own beliefs. Afterward, they completely discontinued their participation in the main Jamia Masjid Chithi Bandi.
Over time, several other mosques were established across both villages. Currently, there are around 4 to 5 main Jamia Masjids in both villages, with the largest one being the main Jamia Masjid Chithi Bandi, followed by the main Jamia Masjid Aragam as the second largest.
