Such a great question!

  1. Archaeologists don't wear fancy leather jackets to dig in the mud.
  2. There's rarely any treasure in real life.
  3. Archaeologists don't care that there isn't any treasure.
  4. Where is the paperwork?
  5. Archaeologists wouldn't disrespect human remains. They wouldn't go using them as a torch, Indiana Jones.
  6. Archaeology isn't about dinosaurs. That's palaeontology.
  7. Archaeologists don't collect stuff.
  8. Where is the jcb? Or the 360 excavator? Or the developer hassling the archaeologists to hurry up?

Most archaeological sites in Britain for example are simply different soils (called contexts) which allow the archaeologist to work out what people were doing there.
