The degree to which Finns tend not to talk that much. You get used to it, and you realize that the Finnish culture is actually very friendly, but you have to establish different norms in your mind.
A very international psychologist I used to know, who had worked all over Europe (I’ll add that he was Belgian, himself), once told me that in fact, there were just as many extroverts in Finland as in other countries, they just expressed themselves differently. He said:
“An introverted Finn will look at his shoes when he talks to you, whereas an extroverted Finn will look at your shoes.”
