This little girl remembers.
This is Zoe. When I adopted her she was estimated to be three years old and she was declawed. She was left behind when a family moved away and someone saw her on the property and called animal control. She was filthy and scared.
It took her a good three years to finally not hide all the time. I’ve moved several times. Each time she’s come with but she’s always got very depressed when I packed. She assumed I was leaving her behind. She wouldn’t eat, groom herself, and she’d barely move. She was fine as soon as we got to our new place when she realized she’s always coming with. We’re now in what should be our forever home and she’ll always be happy if I have anything to do with it.
Update to the comments: Thank you all for your well wishes for my sweet princess! And I 100% agree that declawing is cruel. She actually has issues stemming from it that I treat regularly. She’s very bow legged when she walks and several of the nails have started coming back which is probably painful. So she gets acupuncture bi weekly to treat her pain and anxiety. 😊❤️
Another pic of her cuteness since this is getting more attention. She’s an adorable love bug now. Always has this very gentle, happy face. My husband and I call her the gentle soul of the home:
Update 2: I’m so glad this post is still getting attention. It allows me to see my girl again. Unfortunately in December of 2023, we found a huge tumor on her thyroid that prevented her from eating and drinking. We made the heartbreaking choice to put her down. She was ~17 when we had to say goodbye and I had her for over 14 years of that. She was one of the best kitties I’ve ever had and I still miss her so much. ❤️
