How many years does it usually take to pull a star from the sky?
There is a legend going around, among humans, that when a human pulls a star from the sky he will become a perfect human, a supreme being of goodness, wisdom and boundless happiness. And so humans yearn for the stars, trying desperately to reach them and get one for themselves.
But a human can’t grab a star. A star is a huge chunk of flaming rock. It only looks pretty, twinkling and magical, from a distance. A very, very, very far distance. If a human reached a star he would not be transformed into a boundless, endless bliss. He’d be destroyed.
A human can’t reach enlightenment, any more than he can reach a star. Even if a human reached enlightenment, enlightenment wouldn’t do him any good. Enlightenment would not turn him into a perfect human, a wise human, an all good human, an all happy, all blissful human. Enlightenment would turn him into no sort of human at all.
