“So.. you’re an interior designer huh.
You like … decorate houses with artifacts and paintings and stuff. Meh.”
Well, let me be VERY clear to you peeps!
Please just at least understand the difference between an Interior designer and an Interior Decorator.
While a decorator may just be buying you cushions and miss-matching the color combinations for your house, a designer on the other hand, starts with even the basic planning of your house, the wall layout, the plumbing details, the electrical layouts, furniture detailed drawings, material selections, market surveys and whatnot!
No looking down upon the decorators, but you know, we probably just work a tad bit harder than them and it should count. Stop calling us Interior Decorators!
Interior design is the art and science of understanding people's behavior to create functional spaces within a building. Decoration is the furnishing or adorning of a space with fashionable or beautiful things*. In short, interior designers may decorate, but decorators do not design.
