Without getting into the nitty gritty of this question, I as a Sikh do not have to look to any Audrey Truschke to respect Lord Ram. As per Sikh tradition word Ram is reffered to the omnipresent powerful God which is different from Shri Ram Chander.

But that never means Sikhism never talks about the historical personality of Shri Ramchandra who lived in Treta Yuga and definetly it never teaches me to call him “Misogynistic Pig”, some forgeiner authors have come up with their agendas (never means all forgein authors are like that many are really good) who always look for maligning the image of Indian spiritual tradition, be it the culture or historic personalities or Gurus. We humans are always restricted by our limited minds that gets affected too much by the surroundings in which we are born into hence the emotions and skewed thought process comes in between. I always look upto what enlightend Gurus have taught about Shri Ramchandra.

Guru Gobind Singh while concluding his Ramavtar Katha writes:-

Ram katha jug jug atal, Sab koi bhakhat net Suragbas Raghuveer kara, sagri puri samet, Jo e katha sune aur gaave, dukh pap tah nikat na aave

(The story of Ram is immortal and everyone should read it. Ram went to heaven along with the whole city. Whoever listens to or sings His story, will be free of sin and sorrow.)

However this forms a part of Dasam Granth and many will reject this questioning the entire granth’s authenticity. So let me quote unquestioned, undoubted, word of Gurus, Shri Guru Granth Sahib.

Ragẖubans ṯilak sunḏar ḏasrath gẖar mun bancẖẖėh jā kī sarṇaʼn.

He is certified, like the handsome Ram Chander in the house of Dasrath of the Raghwa dynasty. Even the silent sages seek His Sanctuary.

Ang (meaning Page): 1401

Here Guruji is praising Shri Ramchandra, rather he idealizes his status as King of Raghubans whose sanctury is sought by even sages.

Another Quote:-

Saṯjug ṯai māṇi▫o cẖẖali▫o bal bāvan bẖā▫i▫o.

In the Golden Age of Sat Yuga, You were pleased to deceive Baal the king, in the form of a dwarf.

Ŧareṯai ṯai māṇi▫o rām ragẖūvans kahā▫i▫o.

In the Silver Age of Traytaa Yuga, You were called Raam of the Raghu dynasty.

Ḏu▫āpur krisan murār kans kirṯārath kī▫o.

In the Brass Age of Dwaapur Yuga, You were Krishna

Ugarsaiṇ ka▫o rāj abẖai bẖagṯah jan ḏī▫o.

You blessed Ugrasain with a kingdom, and You blessed Your humble devotees with fearlessness.

Kalijug parmāṇ Nānak gur angaḏ amar kahā▫i▫o.

In the Iron Age, the Dark Age of Kali Yuga, You are known and accepted as Guru Nanak, Guru Angad and Guru Amar Das.

Ang:1390

Guruji goes on to say that in Kaliyuga lord manifested as Nanak and subsequent Gurus just like he manifested as Lord Ram in Treta. This never means that there is any compulsion on Hindus to worship Sikh Gurus or that they are last messangers but this line suggests that the status of Guru Nanak and the subsequent Gurus in Kalyug is that of the status of Krishna in Dwapar and Ram Chander in Treta. Hence such derogatory words for Shri Ram Chander will equally amount to disrespect for gurus too. Yes we Sikhs don’t worship Lord Ram as a historic personality but abusing Ram Chander will amount to abusing Guru Granth Sahib. He has to be respected. Choice is ours is Guru Granth Sahib’s wisdom bigger (which is beyond kaal) or Audrey Truschke’s (a being born within kaal)

Guru Gobind Singhji clearly mentioned that his family’s ancestral lineage goes back to Luv-Kush, sons of Lord Ram.
