In the summer of 2017, I was travelling in Italy and as part of my plan, landed in Naples for a few days.
I was alone and stayed in this 400 year old building in which one house in the top most floor was turned into a co-ed hostel and run by a really, really sweet Italian man called Giovanni.
I went sightseeing one of the days and I was obviously travelling on a budget and hence ate only two meals a day. After a long, long day of roaming around and wanting to reach the hostel before nightfall, I looked up places to eat near the hostel and found a top-rated restaurant close to the hostel. It was around 8 pm and still quite bright and I could walk to the hostel in 5 mins.
I reach this place, it was certainly empty and surely didn’t look all that fancy. I ordered pasta as usual, because it IS Italy. Again the place was rated well, was called a fine dine, I was the only one in the restaurant and I was very hungry.
My order came after what seemed like an eternity, I thought they were making it from scratch. And lo and behold, got this.
I had to pay 11 Euros for this. Plus tips I think. I sat and looked at it for a good 2 minutes before I even took the picture. I still can’t believe I paid for a meal like this.
4 bites. It can’t be called a meal in any country as far as I know. I don’t know how it tasted! I laughed all the way back to the hostel.
To this day, I think I was pranked.
