No. And Yes. And No.

Useful for:

  • Those new to marketing
  • Those new to working closely with a sales team
  • Those who like to self educate a lot before trying anything and jumping in
  • Companies who are hiring marketers but have no idea what they’re doing and use it as a litmus for if candidates have any idea what they’re doing

Not useful for:

  • Actually being an effective inbound marketer
  • Actually using the Hubspot tool

I’ve hired two people with Hubspot certifications, though it wasn’t why I hired them. We use Hubspot in the marketing team I lead. Their skills as critical thinkers and analytical problem solvers are much more useful. In terms of actual Hubspot usage, I often correct mistakes, show them where things are and answer questions about the tool—despite not being certified and having spent less time with the tool than them. For future hires, it’s something I absolutely don’t find useful and don’t value.
