They could multi-verse it and bring back a slightly different Black Widow from a different reality — it wouldn’t be “our” Nat, but it would still be a similar enough character.

Or perhaps bringing her back from the dead could be the story. Hulk or someone else figures out a way to undo the “unbreakable” deal of the Soul Stone and bring her back. Which could include…

(And here we get into potential spoilers for Black Widow or Guardians 3)

There’s a character on the “cosmic” side of Marvel’s roster named Adam Warlock who has sometimes had adventures with the Guardians of the Galaxy. In the comics, his powers and identity are specifically linked to the Soul Stone, and one of his powers is that he can traverse the Soul Realm. And we’ve seen Adam Warlock hinted at in the post-credit scene of Guardians 2 (the golden cocoon thing). So the hooks have been set for him to exist in the MCU.

So one possibility is Adam Warlock is the one person who could undo the unbreakable pact of the Soul Stone — it could be possible for AW to enter the Soul Realm and get Black Widow back. Or Gamora — maybe that’s part of what happens in Guardians 3. For the moment, that’s speculation, but it’s potentially a comics-consistent way it could be done.

With the Avengers, we see Nat trying to find where she belongs. She doesn’t have superpowers, all of her abilities are naturally honed. Compared to Thor and Hulk, she doesn’t quite fit in. She tries to find normal with Banner, but what she wanted was not something he or anyone could provide.

There is a shift after Civil War, I think. She finds her groove training and organizing, keeping tabs on her “family”. Clint has a family of his own that includes Nat as the cool aunt who has the youngest named in her honor.

Infinity War. Thanos, the Snap, the five years afterwards broke Natasha. Half of her family was gone and the ones who were left are just as broken. Clint lost his wife and three kids and went Ronan, killing his way through the bad gangs of the world. Wanda, Strange, Vision, T’Challa, Sam, Bucky, Nick, Shurri, Peter are all gone. Natasha is rattling around in the old place trying to find purpose without the people she loved.

Then comes Endgame. There is hope and the survivors are clinging to it hard. The writers didn’t choose to let Nat die, it was her choice because nothi...

I think what many people miss about this is something the Russo brothers said. They basically said that when they sat down with the writers Markus and McFeely, Scarlett and the Studio they all agreed that it needed to be Clint and Natasha at Vormir. They said once they decided that, they knew it had to be Black Widow, because she is a better fighter than Clint. This is not my opinion, this is what the writers and the directors agree on.

I didn’t like the arc. But once I heard their logic behind it I really enjoyed it. I think many people view it as an affront to Black Widow. I also looked at it that way. But upon hearing the logic, I actually think it honored Black Widow in a really powerful way. She went from being an orphan, used by her family, to making the ultimate sacrifice for her new adopted family, that loved her and she loved them. She also, saved the universe as well. In her mind, she wanted redemption, and what better way to go out than to essentially be confirmed as the best combatant in the MCU, that isn’t powered.

As soon as I heard their logic I really appreciated the arc that Black Widow went through. I also think it’s pretty cool that she is confirmed to be such a proficient fighter, beyond all the men in the MCU, but also the greatest warrior, willing to make the ultimate sacrifice for her best friend (Hawkeye) her family (the Avengers) and the universe.

Note: If you are just going to come on here and get angry that the writers and directors said Black Widow is a better fighter than Hawkeye, please spare me. A. I do not want to have to listen to it. B. It isn’t even really debatable because the people who wrote the story are the ones who said it. C. Those types of arguments are incredibly obnoxious.

A company called National Debt Relief could convince your lenders to simply get rid of a big chunk of what you owe. No bankruptcy, no loans — you don’t even need to have good credit.

If you owe at least $10,000 in unsecured debt (credit card debt, personal loans, medical bills, etc.), National Debt Relief’s experts will build you a monthly payment plan. As your payments add up, they negotiate with your creditors to reduce the amount you owe. You then pay off the rest in a lump sum.

On average, you could become debt-free within 24 to 48 months. It takes less than a minute to sign up and see how much debt you could get rid of.

What most people get by now is that, to get the Soul Stone, you have to sacrifice something you love.

I think Red Skull hammered that one home pretty well. Twice.

When Thanos came by to pick up the Soul Stone, he coincidentally had the only thing he loved right by him. Ironically, she was there mocking him (goes to show that you shouldn’t mock people, otherwise you get hurt).

Now, obviously either one of them sacrificing themselves would end up providing the other one with the Stone. Their love was equal and mutual. The two were just that awesome together.

The reason the writers decided it will be Natasha dying had a lot to do with the differences between her and Clint’s character development and their current standing.

Clint has a family. Nat never did. The only family she ever knew were the Avengers (as attested by Cap during her funeral as well).

She even says that the only thing she’s been trying to achieve for the last five years is to get to here [Vormir].

Her quest ends with her assembling the Avengers back together. With reuniting her family; the only people she cared for.

McFeely and Christopher Markus, the writers of Endgame confirm this in an interview:

Was there a possible outcome where Clint Barton sacrifices himself instead of her?
McFEELY There was, for sure. Jen Underdahl, our visual effects producer, read an outline or draft where Hawkeye goes over. And she goes, “Don’t you take this away from her.” I actually get emotional thinking about it.
MARKUS And it was true, it was him taking the hit for her. It was melodramatic to have him die and not get his family back. And it is only right and proper that she’s done.

I’m thinking the same tactic is being used by Marvel Studios. Black Widow is a fairly popular character among Marvel fans and Marvel is a very popular brand, so people would have gone to see her movie either way, but I’m sure it helps that we just saw her die in Endgame. Now people will be even more glad to watch a prequel knowing that it might be the only chance to see Black Widow onscreen again.

He smiled and said, “The secret to saving money is knowing where to look for the waste—and car insurance is one of the easiest places to start.”

He then walked me through a few strategies that I’d never thought of before. Here’s what I learned:

1. Make insurance companies fight for your business

Most people just stick with the same insurer year after year, but that’s what the companies are counting on. This guy used tools like Coverage.com to compare rates every time his policy came up for renewal. It only took him a few minutes, and he said he’d saved hundreds each year by letting insurers compete for his business.

Click here to try Coverage.com and see how much you could save today.

2. Take advantage of safe driver programs

He mentioned that some companies reward good drivers with significant discounts. By signing up for a program that tracked his driving habits for just a month, he qualified for a lower rate. “It’s like a test where you already know the answers,” he joked.

You can find a list of insurance companies offering safe driver discounts here and start saving on your next policy.

3. Bundle your policies

He bundled his auto insurance with his home insurance and saved big. “Most companies will give you a discount if you combine your policies with them. It’s easy money,” he explained. If you haven’t bundled yet, ask your insurer what discounts they offer—or look for new ones that do.

4. Drop coverage you don’t need

He also emphasized reassessing coverage every year. If your car isn’t worth much anymore, it might be time to drop collision or comprehensive coverage. “You shouldn’t be paying more to insure the car than it’s worth,” he said.

5. Look for hidden fees or overpriced add-ons

One of his final tips was to avoid extras like roadside assistance, which can often be purchased elsewhere for less. “It’s those little fees you don’t think about that add up,” he warned.

The Secret? Stop Overpaying

The real “secret” isn’t about cutting corners—it’s about being proactive. Car insurance companies are counting on you to stay complacent, but with tools like Coverage.com and a little effort, you can make sure you’re only paying for what you need—and saving hundreds in the process.

  • She had that lovely preestablished relationship with Clint. Among the Avengers—and the film needed to center on them—only Clint and Natasha had the deep and compelling history with another Avenger to get the drama out of this and plausibly meet the Soul Stone's requirements.
  • Clint had a family and would get it back if they succeeded. Very good reason for her to fight her hardest, so they'd have him and he'd have them. She wasn't essential in the same way. They'd grieve her, but she was in a way of thinking disposable and wouldn't leave behind a lot of loose ends.
  • Narratively, it was all right there to use. The groundwork was done. There was an emotional shorthand in it all. They didn't have to waste any time, and her death wouldn't distract from where they were going with the plot.

I think she got a raw deal and deserved much better in terms of recognition from the film. But Tony got to be the big hero and got all of the attention and glory and star treatment. Ugh.

In the comics within the Soul Stone is a world called Soul World. When beings are turned to dust, their souls go to Soul World. (This makes me sad for Nat🥺) The scene with Thanos and young Gamora in the end is supposed to be Soul World.

I read in fandoms that there was going to be a deleted scene with Tony and an older version of his daughter Morgan in Soul World. But apparently it confused the test screening group so they trashed it.

The pre-established rules for getting the Soul Stone required that somebody died during the “time heist”, so it was always going to be either Black Widow or Hawkeye. The filmmakers eventually decided on Black Widow, as sacrificing her life for the “family” she finally acquired after a life as a spy seemed a very meaningful conclusion for her character arc.

Tilted is the word I would use. The more I think about it, the angrier I get.

Some background:

Black Widow was and still is my favourite MCU character. She was the one who got me into these films to begin with (though ragnarok helped). Endgame was the first MCU film I watched on release so I had the benefit of knowing she was alive for all the other films.

This is why her death came as such a sucker punch. I barely had time to process what was happening before she ended up a red stain at the bottom of a cliff.

All I could do was search desperately for signs that she would be back, it didn’t cooperate with my view of reality. But nothing.

I genuinely didn’t feel anything for the rest of the film. My mind just kept looping back to that moment. Where it all went wrong.

I had adored her character beforehand. She was kind, she was delivering some truly amazing moments. In fact she delivered the best scene of the film (yes even over the final battle) with the talk with Steve.

It’s odd. I don’t think i’ve ever been so caught up with a fictional character’s Fate before. The closest I can remember I saw (skulduggery pleasant spoilers) was Stephanie the reflection as it was a tragic death that’s so easily could have been prevented.

This is different though. Because I understand it. I understand the themes, the arcs that it accomplished, the message it was trying to send.

But, despite this, I simply can’t accept it. I am not entertained. I am not satisfied. It feels empty. I tried watching this scene again a few months later to see if I had recovered but it only intensified my previous emotions.

She plunged over that cliff, believing she had finally found her redemption. She didn’t know that she had earned it a long time ago.

But it was her choice?

Was it?

Was it the executives behind the film production the film pushed her (both figuratively and literally)?

Besides, even if she chose it on her free will, I refuse. She committed suicide. We do not accept consent if the person consents to self harm/destruction.

I am currently obsessed with her solo film now and desperately hoping it will be good in its own right but also resolve her death. As it stands, it feels problematic, unsatisfying and deeply upsetting.

If anything it’s pushed me away from the MCU as without her, what’s the point?

As you see before they fought for Endgame she was the only one contacting everyone and keeping a check on the family and all the leftover people. She was also spotted crying by Captain America as she had lost loved ones and that was an ester egg to Civil War where she comes to comfort Cap after Peggy.

Her character in MCU is a bad assassin's past, she is already guilty of all that she has done. All the crimes and sins she has created has made her feel really pity about herself.

She wanted a chance of redemption, she had to prove it to herself. Also she loved Clint and he had a family to take care of, so it was best she sacrificed herself in order to obtain the soul stone.

It was a homage paid to her character as she was the first female character plus her role of keeping the team together deserved such an end.

Also because the contracts for mostly all heroes are ending and they need to get new and fresh faces for MCU films and the old ones look for new characters so they also want to kind of leave MCU atleast for the full films, they might be approached for Comeos tho.

Because her actress, Scarlet Johansen’s contract for movies was running out and so much like many characters in Endgame her story had to end there, of course, Black Widow will be released sometime 2021 and this is because she only had one more movie in her contract and because we had seen her story to the very end it is fitting we will get to see her beginnings.

Hope this answer was helpful and have a good day.

I wasn’t really as broken up about it as some people. I haven’t been much of a Black Widow fan since The Winter Soldier; I thought she was handled poorly in Age of Ultron, then Civil War and Infinity War couldn’t give her enough screentime to recover because they had too many other priorities. I had pretty much stopped being invested in her character.

For that reason, I’ve also been much more interested in getting a Black Widow prequel and learning about her past than I have been in seeing where she could go in the future. I think she was a good choice to be killed off; not as many people expec

For that reason, I’ve also been much more interested in getting a Black Widow prequel and learning about her past than I have been in seeing where she could go in the future. I think she was a good choice to be killed off; not as many people expected it and the alternative was Hawkeye. His death would have just been another attempt to force us to care about his character, and I’ve had enough of that. They needed to just let Hawkeye be Hawkeye, and they finally did.

I’m okay with Natasha’s death in Endgame. Bring on the Russian spy story we deserve now, Marvel.

I felt really sad when it happened. It was incredibly shocking to see the same scene from Infinity War play out again. I was pretty much crying for the rest of the movie. Unlike a lot of people though, I didn’t really see a problem with it.

It was a fitting way to end her character. Out of the original Avengers, she was the only one whose story would make sense to end in sacrifice off that cliff.

  • Tony had his happy ending, so he wouldn’t sacrifice himself unless he was sure things would work out. Even in the end he was forcing himself to stay alive until Pepper reassured him.

  • Steve has been fighting his entire life, and never actually got the chance to have one.
  • Thor had that nice twist, but even before, I’d assumed that Thor wouldn’t be in a self sacrificing position until he actually dealt with his issues.
  • Bruce could be self sacrificed, but it wouldn’t really have meaning to his story. He’s finally found a way to embrace both of his halves, he’s in the farthest place from where he was when he attempted suicide years ago.
  • Clint had a family to go back to. Yes, he turned into a murderer, but he’s been fighting for retirement for years, and he just keeps getting pulled back in.

Natasha’s sacrifice fit in with her character. We’ve known she wants a family since Age of Ultron. She ended up finding an unconventional one in her fellow Avengers. She would do anything for them. More than that she’s been constantly carrying around the guilt of her past deeds with her. No matter how much good she does, she will never remove the red in her ledger. With this sacrifice, she was finally at peace. Looks like the answer to Loki’s question was yes.

So, circling back to the original question. I was devastated, but i I wasn’t surprised.

I believe they killed of Natasha because they felt they had completed her character arc. We had leant a lot about her and there easy;t much more development they could do with her after endgame. The only parts of her life which could be expanded was the life before SHIELD and were she went after Captain America Civil war, which is the Black widow movie. All other avengers show ent back in time either had a part to play in the final battle (Iron Man, Captain America, Hulk), or had another movie or more character development (Hawkeye, Thor).

I definitely suspected that Iron Man (Robert Downy Jr) or Captain America (Chris Evans) were going to die, if not both of them.

Steve Rogers was the first superhero to live, making him technically the first Avenger.

The first “known” avenger, from the mcu movies, was Tony Stark (Iron Man).

On top of that, I suspected that professor hulk or hawkeye may of died in the process of the endgame victory. I still new that either cap or iron man were going to save the universe.

I am sure it is save to say that the least suspected death of the MCU characters, let alone avengers, was Natasha Romanoff. Nat was still young compare to the others, there was A LOT they could of done with the character, whereas steve and tony had their prime and frachise…

RIP to our heroes: Nat & Tony 🤍 the heroes.

Natasha sacrificed herself so that the avengers could get the soul stone in Avengers: Endgame. Clint was also there and he tried to sacrifice himself instead but Natasha did it. To get the soul stone a person must lose what they love the most. In this case, Clint lost Natasha, who was family for him.

The question is really confusing but i’m going to try to answer it. Anyways, after Endgame, he is not dead, he is just old.

If you are talking about the possibility of him dying sooner than we expect then it really depends on how old he is, he is about 106 years old according to Marvel officials and they are discounting the 67 years he spent in the ice. Old Rogers is rumored to be appearing in the Falcon and Winter Soldier disney+ TV series.

So i don’t think that he will die just yet but maybe another time.

  • For instance, the memoriam for the lost heroes that was shown Spider-man far from home. Cap was one of them as shown in the school TV show.
  • Or in the illusion that Mysterio trapped Peter, there was a fallen statue of Captain America and his shield.

Regardless, i think because of movie plot consistency, the people on Earth don’t actually know that Cap is still alive and Mysterio doesn’t as well (i mean why would old Cap reveal his identity if he can lead a peaceful life?). I think that people believe he died in the Endgame final battle but they don’t actually know the truth.

After an extended fight over which one of them will make the big sacrifice, Black Widow jumps to her death. When Hawkeye returns to Earth, Thor (Chris Hemsworth) suggests they use the Time Stone to bring her back. However, Red Skull told Hawkeye that Black Widow's death is permanent.

Red Skull calls her daughter of Ivan.

In the comic books, Ivan Petrovich Bezukhov is a Russian soldier who became Natasha's guardian when she was an infant after he saves her from a burning building. Eventually, Ivan brought Natasha to the Black Widow program to train in combat, presumably to help keep her safe.

Banner was at least a little pissed at Natasha for being the one to grab him out of the quiet life he’d managed to put together (especially when he realized she had a bunch of soldiers backing her up and even the “innocent little girl” they’d seen was part of the mission to retrieve him). Hulk, especially at that point in his development, is basically made out of Banner’s anger, so after transforming he focused on the person he was mad at.

What Avenger should have died in Endgame?

None of them! Forever-dead doesn’t happen in the comics, and I’m sad to see it seems to be “forever” in the film.

SA: Endgame.

I was prepared to lose Steve; I feel out of all the characters, his story arc had played out through 3 solo movies plus the Avengers films. He is a pretty straight-forward guy who got Bucky back, so there wasn’t much more for him to do going forward. When I heard time-travel was an element of Endgame, I (and most of us) assumed (correctly) that he’s returned to the past to be with Peggy. Gone, but happy and not dead-dead.

When I heard time-travel was an element of Endgame, I (and most of us) assumed (correctly) that he’s returned to the past to be with Peggy. Gone, but happy and not dead-dead.

I also accepted that RDJ was aging out of the role of Iron Man. I hoped he’d simply retire with Pepper and would be around to pass the armor on to a younger actor (maybe the kid from Iron Man 3: he was at the funeral). I never thought they’d kill him outright; I assumed he’d take on a Nick Fury-type mentor role to a new roster of Avengers. I’m upset that his daughter lost him, too; how brutal of a film to kill a 5-year-old’s dad!

I never in a million years saw Nat dying. The conclusion of Endgame does leave us with a quandary: since Steve traveled to Vormir and returned the Soul Stone before Nat ever fell off the cliff, how is she still dead? She should have popped up alive, and appeared on the time machine pad at Tony’s.

And how is Vision dead? He’s been destroyed and rebuilt like a million times in the comics. He’s made of vibranium and his body was in Wakanda for 5 years. Don’t tell me that the most technologically advanced nation on earth can’t return him to some level of sentience (even at half Wakandan’s population, they must have one engineer who survived).

I felt it would have been most logical, if anyone had to die, for Clint to have thrown himself off the cliff at Vormir. (Even thought it would create the paradox as I outlined above.) The plot seemed to be headed that way: Clint was training his eldest daughter, even calling her “Hawkeye.” He suffered terrible PTSD after losing his whole family. Granted his family was destined to be restored, but that doesn’t erase the trauma, nor any guilt about going on a murderous rampage. And, he’s got a mark on his back after said murderous rampage, which would have put them in extreme danger. If he threw himself off the cliff, he would 1. get Jeremy Renner out of a role he’s aging out of; 2. making a logical successor in his daughter for a future “Young Avengers” team; 3. resolving personal suffering, and 3. eliminating himself from any organized crime “hit list” that could prove fatal to his family. Note: this wouldn’t prevent a pre-Avengers movie starring he and Nat fighting in Budapest, and how they turned their lives around.

Not to keep harping on age, but Don Cheadle’s War Machine is about at it’s limit; he was great in both IW and Endgame. (FWIW, I think they gave him some of the best lines; “so the guy’s an idiot.”) I love Don Cheadle, but he’s a great actor that could be doing some heavier roles (winning Oscars) in lower-budget films, now that he’s probably made enough coin to perhaps produce some films himself.

In terms of character deaths, I find myself also in mourning over Banner and Hulk. In a way, we’ve lost them both. Banner’s now confident and chatty; Hulk doesn’t smash. Granted “Hulk smash” was becoming a trope, but I’ll miss it if he’s in another film.

TL/DR: As I said, I don’t want any of them to die, but Clint would have been the only Avenger I can see killing for logical plot purposes, followed by War Machine.

First off I’m gonna go through some people that most think will die but I DON’T think will die.

So first off there’s Iron Man:

He is expected to die but I think he won’t for multiple reasons. First off is Marvel has played with our emotions through pretend-killing Iron Man in Avengers: Infinity War and there are two explanations for this.

  1. He will be a big factor in Avengers 4 (which seems to be true).
  2. And/or He won’t die but will be a lot less of a character.

It’s most likely a combination of the two with the leaked set photos showing him playing one of the biggest roles, and Tony has been set up for a happy ending (more that some characters can hope for). Think about it, he has finally proposed to Pepper, and right in the beginning of Avengers: Infinity War she is begging him to come back. Also in the past few movies Tony has made quite a few mistakes, or things he aphasia perceived as mistakes… and now he has lost, and even when he won some people died which he will undoubtedly blame himself for. I think that afte Avengers 4 he will keep his promise to stay with Pepper and be a kinda secondary Stan Lee, cameoing whenever RDJ wants to, and occasionally showing up for the bigger battles.

Onto those that will most likely die:

The first, and least likely is the Incredible Hulk. This is because they seem to be starting to start a arch for Hulk. He still might die because Mark Ruffalo has been working with marvel for quite a while, however if the Hulk turns into Professor Hulk or merged Hulk, or some other intelligent Hulk he might not come out of Hulk form and that way they can change the actor.

Onto the next most likely… Thor

This is because Chris Hemsworth has said that he will not appear on screen as Thor after Avengers 4 but then kinda went back on it saying that he was thinking about the next roles he would play and immediately went on to say that he liked what Taika Waititi had done with the character of Thor. It does strike me as strange that they would kill of Thor now that he is getting more and more popular with each second on screen but it could be purely the actors choice.

Now to the guy I am almost positive will die… Captain America

Not only is the actor retiring but his arch is fleshed out and his character fully developed. He is also not a cgi character like the Hulk or Groot. Honestly this is the best possible end he can get… until he’s rebooted.

Death is boring in franchises. It won’t last. Why not just skip the melodrama and write bittersweet endings?

It’d save a hell of a lot of time when you decide you need to boost the appeal of whatever and bring them back.

Because either hawk eye or black widow had to sacrifice soul to get the soul stone. Without that sacrifice they couldn't get soul stone, as soul stone demands sacrifice (soul for soul). Same was done by thanos to get the soul stone (he killed gamora).

Also, black widow doesn't seem to have any strong hold in new MCU phase. She tried to save haw eye so that he can take care of his family.

Unfortunately that scene was deleted, so we just have to assume that he’s hiding in the army of Ravagers somewhere.

The big reveal in Avengers is that if Hulk emerges despite Banner's attemp to prevent it - that is, if Hulk emerges unwillingly - then he is a pure rage monster bent on destruction. But if Banner WANTS Hulk to emerge then the Big Guy retains at least some of Banner's intelligence remaining.

This is reinforced in Avengers 2 where the Hulk that takes part in the assault on the castle is capable of taking orders, but the Hulk that is drawn out by Wanda is a pure rage monster that is incapable of being reasoned with.

  1. Captain America dies in Avengers 4
  2. He already died after Civil War

Chris Evans is unlikely to renew his contract, and we’re approaching the best time for him to die off and pass the mantle to Bucky or Sam, or someone else. So at a minimum, Steve Rogers will probably die.

The person we see die may not be the real Steve Rogers, however. It could be a shapeshifting alien Skrull disguised as Steve Rogers.

Evidence:

  1. Captain Marvel will introduce the Skrulls as villains, an alien race of shapeshifters.
  2. He and Black Widow seemed surprisingly strong while fighti

  2. He and Black Widow seemed surprisingly strong while fighting Thanos and the Black Order
  3. He was on the run for 2 years between Civil War and Infinity War, enough time for him to be replaced
  4. Both Black Widow and Captain America have new looks.
It would not be surprising for at least one of them to be a Skrull, but if one is a Skrull, there’s a greater chance of both being Skrulls, since they spent 2 years together.
