Just once. As a celebration, I was taken to a very, very expensive revolving restaurant on the top floor of a hotel. He had reserved a table at the windows, and the view was spectacular. The service was first rate. He looked gorgeous, and I wasn’t looking too bad, myself. The pre-dinner cocktails were terrific, and it looked as if a wonderful evening was in store for us. We ordered, the food came, and the evening went to an expensive Hell. The prime rib was so overdone - and old - that it was gray. Both hot sides were cold, and, when it came, the lettuce in the salad was browning. We paid for the drinks, left, and went to a drive-in and ate chili dogs and fries. The engagement ring still sparkled, even though it was accompanied by simple food.
