My wife and I went to eat a few years ago at a high-end 9-course small plate meal at a restaurant in Tribeca. At some point in the middle, a server brought out a plate with a few small beige spheres on it. I couldn’t make out what he was saying when he left it on the table; loud restaurant, heavy accent, etc. I ate one and declared it delicious, only to have a server come out a minute later with bread to go with the herbed compound butter I had just eaten.
