This very mainstream question. I got asked a lot of time and I think I have gotten to a point where I just say “Yeah, it's very cool. People are smart. They're keeping us happy.” And more often they'll ask for details and blah blah.
I think it's incredible. You will find people you prefer to work with than not everywhere including Google but everyone have an incredible work ethics, manners and very very varied personalities which makes some bunch on people are very interesting.
Benefit-wise obviously has been proven that it is a pretty amazing experience to work at Google. The company is really trying their best to make you happy once you passed the interview. There are absolutely anything you can imagine available onsite. They put your health first amongst many other priorities. They even have training in place for you to be a better communicator. I love this and I think it is absolutely necessary for the interest of the company and the individual.
Is there any surprise about working at Google?
In the first week of arriving at Google, I immediately thought “Hmm, so I'm actually not that dumb” and I definitely felt a bit of an ego-rush knowing that I am a part of this. I mean, if you don't know what Google is you're either too old or too young and in an exaggerative manner of it.
However, as time goes by I realised working for them actually humble me more and more. I actually know so little compared to what I thought I knew. There are endless amount of people you can learn from and they are often do not mind having you asking them questions on related matters.
In this way, I am now more relaxed and not too much in competition with anyone while still being very ambitious about things. There is a comfort knowing that you're surrounded by very intelligent people that are willing to help you get to their level in no rush and with your own time, because of this I am now twice likely to explore new unrelated skills and things that will be useful to me in the future without having to worry about time-limitations.
It is such an amazing feeling knowing that everyone is smart and intelligent in their own way and that if we can find a way to work together; in the manner that Google applied— honestly, we would be unstoppable!
