User-11900997181842644769, I like your profile blurb. You seem like a cool guy.
I suggest that every worldview can be called a conspiracy theory. I realised this when I was a junior house officer hanging around psychiatry wards. In every rational estimation of our reality there are people with some sort of power who know things that others do not - scientists, politicians, experts of any kind. Our societies are built on trust - the only question is who you trust.
I’ve met people who genuinely believe that doctors like me are demonic. I can see why. I do, after all, literally poison people for a living. Depending on who they trust, they might also believe that I’m a henchman of the Big Pharma armies that are trying to inoculate them with the mark of the beast. I understand that too - every tool and tablet I use is the product of an industry. Without them, I’m just some dude with ideas.
However, I have very old friends who have been part of such industries for a long time. I look after their kids. I wound those children with the mark of the beast their parents contribute to. It’s all about having your money where your mouth is. I trust people who do unto others as they do unto themselves and those they love.
Anyway, I think it always behoves us to hear people out, but when what they say diverges so far from what we already trust then such views cannot be incorporated into our own understanding any more than parallel lines can meet. Logic is all about connections. If we can’t join the dots in a way we understand, then we don’t get the picture.
